Re: Jwolf's Victoria Half-marathon (October 12)

Outstanding pacing Jennifer, way to execute the plan to perfection and listen to you body in the absence of any official pace bunnies. I unfortunately don't know the course well enough and have to base my opinions on what has been present (as I've only been to Victoria a couple of times), but given ...

And I'm even more of a heel than usual because I SKIPPED THE RACE I TEMPTED HER INTO. OK, I wasn't going to bring it up, but YOU SKIPPED THE RACE YOU TEMPTED ME INTO  Meh, even without the sprained ankle, I knew I wasn't heading into my finest race. It just added some extra uncertainty to the ...

Re: Hammie's Portland Marathon 2014

Congrats on getting it done Hammie! I could only imagine how humid it was in Portland, as it was rather humid in YVR on Sunday as well. Considering the conditions you were faced with and nursing a previous ankle injury, I would say Sunday was a huge success. don't listen to mike and sign up for a tr...

Re: Jes beats the bunny!

According, to Sportstats ... we hit the 11K mark in 56:18, and you ran the final 10K in 51:42, while I completed it in 53:30 .. One could argue that your PB was made up in the last half, with a 4:36 negative split. 4:36min negative split and a 4:31min PB... Hmmm.... Coincidence? :shifty: Like I sai...

Re: Jes beats the bunny!

First off Jes, congrats on a well pace race! Sorry that PB is not huge, but rather epic! You took 4:30min off your old mark. Umm, yeah I would say you are having a great training cycle. Goes to prove That a little hard work can go a long way. I’ll echo Jennifer’s request as well. I'd love to see tho...

Re: Spirit of the Shore Half Marathon

Well done Mary, given the course changes. I could only imagine the chaos you experienced at Park Royal; the place is crazy at the moment with all the construction going on. A sub 2hr or close to that would have been doable if it were not for the climb up 11th Ave. Heading down Taylor way must have b...

Thank you ankle for healing so well and allowing me to get in a 14.5K run today. Sweet action. Awesome new to read Cheryl, you are ready for RnR in a couple of weeks. North shore half done in 2:02, what a perfect day for a run. Well done Mary, congrats. Almost ideal running conditions this morning....

Re: Fresh20 - Meal Planning Service

Are you just cycling through previous weeks? I meal plan on my own, which is very cost effective for us. We spent $110 at the grocery store this week, with $50 of that being gifts and dog food. We spent $60 on our food and will be hosting 2 bbqs this week. I downloaded a food planning app where I j...

Re: late training injury

Agree...the run is gone. Get yourself healed and enjoy the taper. If you go out and try a 32K run now, you're likely to re-injure yourself and still not be fully tapered for race day. You should still have an easy 21K run next w/e in your schedule with 2 weeks to go to race day on the 19th. This! A...

Re: IM Lake Tahoe

That sucks. IMC almost went the same way in 2003 with the barriere fire - IIRC they turned the run and bike courses into short loops so that racers and volunteers weren't spread too far out from town, and also to ease the draw on emergency services. It was the Okanagan Mountain Fire. A little close...

Speaking of MEC and Costco - I highly recommend buying from one of these stores because they stand behind their products and will replace things beyond the one-year warranty. I've heard good things about REI too. REI also does the same thing with the products they sell as well and that is why I sug...

Re: More Garmin talk

Check out Costco and MEC for them as well. Costco has the 210 for under $200 and the 10 for $150; both online prices, so it might be slightly cheaper at the store. The 210 at Costco also come with heart rate monitor and foot pod. Or look at REI in the States for the 220, my buddy just picked his up ...

http://fellrnr.com/wiki/Best_Running_Watch I was surprised to read that he found differences in GPS accuracy between the 610 and the 620. Welcome to RM as well! My 1st half was very memorable and a blast, and no matter how much I try I can never re-capture that feeling. Don’t get me wrong I’ve had many other half’s that were much better, but that day was unbelievable. Anytime I run part of the course, which is fairly regularly, I’m re...

Re: Replacement for Garmin 610

Raytech is the service depot for Garmin in Canada and does out of warranty repairs. If you like the 610 otherwise, you can get a refurbished one out of them (did that when I cracked the screen on my 310xt). By the looks of it, you could get a refurbished one for $113.99 plus tax/shipping. http://ww...

Can steel cut oats be made in a rice cooker? That way, they could be cooked in the morning, but without needing attention. I've never tried it and it could end up being an epic fail... You can, but they have a tendency to boil over. In fact, when you google "steel cut oats in rice cooker"...

I know a rare posting in the daily thread by me; this was too good of a run not to share... I had a great 12K run on the seawall and into Stanley Park before work this morning. Temps were just right, but it is shaping to be another warm one in YVR today.

WHAT, no Thursday thread as of yet?

Go figure the day I decide to post in the daily thread and there is none started. Yes I know it has been a while since I last posted in the daily thread.

13K run commute done this morning under stellar conditions in YVR and what no doubt will be an awesome day! :D
