Re: 2014 WDW Marathon Weekend Has Gone Dopey

So it's only $140 extra to run the 10km as well. Sounds very reasonable to me.

Re: Should Women's Boston Qualifying Times be Revised?

Personally I think Boston is all about making money. IMHO they balance the qualifying times to ensure that the Type A middle aged or older folks who have disposable income will sign-up, buy merchandise at the expo and spend money on hotels, restaurants etc. If it was all about being special, there w...

Re: Age-groups awards

I try not to miss draw prize events. I have won smaller things like hats, socks and shirts. My wife has won a pair of Trail Shoes. I have also been the Grand Prize Draw winner twice. 1) Bread and Honey - Eurorail pass (was about the 10th name drawn as most people left.) I didnt want to go to Europe ...

Re: Age-groups awards

I suspect that giving out age group awards is not popular because most of us won't place, so its easy to say they aren't important. For the people that can place, I think its great they get an award. I have placed in the top 3 in my age group in 4-5 runs and once did I get an award medal. One was a ...

Post Oak Lodge Double - Tulsa OK

I saw this race about 18 months ago and it caught my eye. I wanted to run it in 2012; however Christa and I were already travelling the week afterwards so we put in on the backburner. Late last year, we decided to run the Post Oak Challenge Doubler in 2013. I thought Tulsa would be well into spring ...

I ran this the first year, when it was anything but a fast course!!! That being said, I think I might make a return there this year.

Re: Run Woodstock

Don't worry. With all runners there, even the rowdy area is pretty tame I think. Its going to be a fun weekend! You might here a few screams of delight as some of us 100 milers hopefully make the 30 hour cut off on Saturday night.

Re: Run Woodstock

Not a lot of campsites left. Running friends just booked Campsite #95. I think there is only #94, which is right beside the aid station left in the main area. There are still 20 or so on the small road into the main camping area...

Re: Pistorius charged with murder!

I am shocked that people are actually shocked that this guy could be charged with murder. Let's see, wasn't he the guy charged over an incident in 2009, where a 19 woman at his house had a wooden beam hit her by accident when he asked her to leave his house. I know wooden beams fall down in my house...

Re: Run Woodstock

The 100 starts on Friday at 4 PM, so I dont know how late the party goes but when I came by the aid station around 11 PM it was quiet all around. I was dead to the wind on Saturday and the live music stopped at a decent hour. Maybe 9 PM or so. I assume that since Run Woodstock rents all the campsite...

I am signed up for the 100 miler this year.

I think Ron is also signed up or will be signing up. Great fun. Book your camping spot early if you are planning to stay onsite. They will sell out quickly. I am 3 spots down from the aid station.

Re: Around the Bay 30K 2013 Changes

Math is not my strongest suit, but it really seems like walkers have more time to finish ATB than they do a marathon if you look at it on a per km basis. If I did my calcs right, if there is a 6 hour limit on many marathons, it works out to just over 8:30 per km pace. Around the Bay is being more ge...

Re: Around the Bay 30K 2013 Changes

Anyone who has run the race, probably has a story about walkers not being single file. It was a big problem for runners. Its too bad the RD didn't have some pictures to show just how bad it was. Again, many walkers did walk single file and to the right side of the raod so I feel sorry for them that ...

Crothers Woods is a great place to train in the city. Although Run for the Toad is not nearly as tough as Run for the Toad.

I plan on doing this race and live in Etobicoke. High Park is a good place to train for this race if that is west end to you. There are trails near the Humber as well.

Two from Etobicoke will sign-up shortly. I assume its because runners in Richmond Hill must have lots of money and can afford to sign-up for all their races far in advance.

Seaton Trail Cancelled for 2013

I noticed that Seaton was cancelled for this year... Although tough, I loved the course. Looks like a 50km race has been added in September. I think its in its second year, but I guess this will be the first year its part of the Ontario Ultra series.

Re: Okay now I've seen everything

What I dont understand, and I have emailed the sponsors, is why they are sponsoring a fake event. Kind of makes me wonder if they stand behind the products and services they sell.

As Groupon seems to be the lead sponsor, I can't support them going forward.
