Re: Is there such thing as a voluntary nippleectomy?
I don't have your problem (female) but having breastfed two kids I feel your pain. There are clear dressings called OpSite that you can get at a surgical supply store or drug store. They stay on really well. I use them on my feet when I have blisters, just pop the blister under clean conditions and ...

Re: What Are You Struggling With?
Me too with the sub 2 hour half. The closest I came to it was the 17th Wing in 2:07 this May. That and my ever problematic 4th toenails that I am encouraging to heal while it is so hot and I'm down a bit in my mileage. (I wish they would just magically disappear overnight)

Re: Running Risk: My RANT about drivers + cell phone use...ARG!
Just to clarify, my intention was to get the driver's attention not to damage their car. It did get the driver's attention but you make a good point about worrying about being assaulted by a crazed car worshiper. I yelled a profanity at someone who almost killed me with their car once and they got o...

Re: Running Risk: My RANT about drivers + cell phone use...ARG!
Everyone has moments of inattention BUT it's when they are bearing down on you with that "I'm looking at you but I can't see you because I'm carrying on a cell phone conversation" that makes me have a major rant. I kicked a car door once when I almost was hit. Luckily they didn't chase me.

Re: S.A.T.U.R.D.A.Y.
On call today so could only do 10 k on the treadmill. Turned off the fan so I could sweat a lot and pretend I was running outside. Have to save the long run for tomorrow morning when I'm free.

Re: Dog Attack
I haven't had any dog attacks but last fall had a huge grey squirrel launch itself onto my leg while I was out for a run. It had been staring and barking at me on and off for a few weeks on my usual route. It freaked me out so much that I had to kick it off my leg.

Re: Bread question
I've been making DH's bread (I don't eat sandwiches so I eat very little brad) for the past 6 months or so. I use a breadmachine, I didn't think that 1.5 tsp was a lot of yeast? My jar of yeast lasts me at least a month or longer. I only make one loaf a week though. I mostly make it because the qua...

Re: My First Race
My first race was the Manitoba Marathon in 1981. I was running quite a bit but not really training with a goal in mind. I didn't know what to expect so just ran it like I was out for a regular run. I managed to finish in 4:04 (I never did break the 4 hour mark) and what I remember most is just cryin...

Re: Are steel-cut oats gluten-free?
I am celiac too. I can tolerate oats since finding a brand that is grown in a Saskatchewan field that hasn't grown anything but oats for 5 years. Most other oats are contaminated with the usual list of offending grains right from the field.

Re: freezing peaches
Peel and slice the peaches and sprinkle them with fruit fresh (easy to get in the canning section of your supermarket-usually near the sugar). This is just ascorbic acid (and some sugar I think) and it keeps them from going brown and maintains the texture. If you don't have any fruit fresh, lemon ju...
