My understanding is that anything over the 42.195K marathon distance is considered an ultramarathon.

Re: Prince Edward County Marathon

Is this one taking place this year? I notice an ongoing delay with posting of registration information, hopefully this one does not go the way of the Forest City Marathon.

Re: Is less more?

I know there are maniacs who don't like Higdon's marathon pace Saturdays followed by LSD Sundays, but I feel the two runs gave me the confidence to run long on slightly tired legs. I like Higdon's Marathon Pace runs Saturdays followed by LSD Sundays. Combined with non-running pursuits, I find five ...

Re: Runner hit by Deer

This is a consideration to make when considering listening to music while running. I stopped dead in my tracks during the Run for the Toad Training Run this year when there was an unfamiliar moving rustling in the brush beside my trail. I had about a second or less from first hearing a noise to real...

Good luck next time out Ron. You are right the marathon is a different beast, always remember to taper for the marathon even as you tackle longer and longer trail races, and you'll surely get your 3:30:00 next time out when your stomach is in a better starting state.

This is a great race report even 2.5 years later. Great job.

Good luck to all. Looks like perfect weather at this point.

I'll very likely be wearing a blue Grateful Dead bike jersey, so be sure to say hi if you are running near me.

Likewise. I think it is time for a Running Mania Beer Mile. Who's in?

Re: Road2Hope Hamilton Marathon

weather network now shows sunny and high of 9. :) accuweather has same forecast but winds now from SSE at 16km - that's a pretty strong headwind for pretty much the entire course. :( Thanks for the update. But isn't the course starting in the south and ending 8K north of the start point, so a wind ...

Thanks. I had done this before posting and the elevation map reflected a jump off the side of the Expressway. It is now fixed and reflects exactly what you described. Anyone who had issues viewing this map, please take another look.

Re: Weight & Speed

Unfortunately for me, 30+K runs are generally followed by 3000+calorie reward dinners!!! Something I'm changing to lose those last few pounds... You are not alone, this is a tough one for many. Small calorie deficits are comparatively easy to attain during the week when one is, for example, working...

Hamilton Marathon Grade

Does anyone know the approximate aerage grade of the downhill portion of the Hamilton Marathon? Thanks - I have recently changed my fall marathon plans to this race and want to incorporate a little bit of downhill treadmill running in the last four weeks to prepare for the Red Valley Parkway stretch...

Good job.

When is the Century Half Marathon taking place? Is it a standalone spectacle or a two day duathalon with the Beer Mile on the preceding day?

I too would be interested in any upcoming Beer Miles in Ontario. Unfortunately, the forums on the site Strider mentioned haven't been maintained since 2007.
