Re: Hot Sunday
Beautiful day in Halifax. Went out on the bike through Shubie Park for 20k or so with a stop at Starbucks at about 14k. Saw drghfx out there a few times. Lots of runners and tri people in the park, so a slow ride, which is a good thing. Sorry I didn't recognize you guys out there the first couple o...

Other articles have quotes from participants and many who are cancer survivors have looked forward to this and to walking with their families. It's not just about the money.

Re: Destination race/training site/volunteer opportunity.
The fellow who established this program was the director of a kids' event we timed today. This looks friggin' interesting and fun. It would be a great destination event, though you can go there to train or to do some volunteer work. Rift Valley Marathon They are looking for 2:05, 2:10, 2:15 and 2:2...

I think the race should be downhill! It would be like the Red Bull Crashed Ice race without skates.

still who would want to see a gunfight at the 3:45 corral Depends on if you are ok to be in that corral... You would have to be a certain caliber to be in that corral. For some, it might mean bringing their PB gun. In this case, it would be gun time not chip time. :D What a pistol! I am no gun runn...

Re: Vegetarian vs. non vegetarian
Yeah, if you know a good responsible organic farmer with free range, life is pretty good for an animal until they fatten up. However large producers really should be charged with animal abuse. Cows/steers stuck in small stalls for their lives, force fed with food and antibiotics etc. Hens shipped in...

Re: Veteran Arrested At Marathon-Misunderstood ?
It is not so much being uneducated as not understanding risks. The risk of needing a gun to protect yourself or your family, if you are just a normal citizen is very, very low. I don't carry a gun because I don't need to carry a gun. I use the same reasoning for not carrying rattlesnake antidote.

Re: 9 year old to run Antarctic Marathon
Young kids just don't have that kind of maturity for completely balanced judgement. That's why as parents we help and guide them. So some kid should ask his 100 pound overweight, smoking, drinking parents about risk evaluation? Sorry, but many adults don't have the kind of maturity for completely b...

The good news for him is that it appears the Keystone Cops investigated the incident. Talk about winning the lottery!
