Re: Jes' 2012 NCM marathon
Congratulations on the PB. While it is hard to take when things don't go as well as expected, you can definitely be proud of yourself for sticking to your guns over the last few kms despite the problems you were having. Marathons are tough.

Re: Flying Friday
It's been busy at work the last couple of days so missed running yesterday. Once I had finished up this afternoon, it looked really windy outside so I almost bailed on getting in a run. However, after asking myself what a "real" RMer  would do, I headed out for 12.3kms at an average ...

Re: Humid Tuesday
Got out early this morning for a very humid 12.3kms at a 5:28/km pace. Felt pretty tired over the last 3 kms but that may have been due to the conditions. Otherwise, everything went well.

Congratulations on completing your first half marathon. That's a great racing distance which hopefully won't take too much time to recover from. Any thoughts as to what next?

Great picture. Well done getting your first marathon under your belt. Now you can enjoy the rest of the summer doing some other events with the fitness level you have built up over the last few months. By the way, you beat my Boston marathon time - I am going to have to do something about that!

Hopefully you are recovering from yesterday's stomach issues. You did really well to get to the finish despite everything. At least the good news is that you didn't have any injury flare up.
What are you planning to do next - apart from resting and recovering of course?

Re: Race Day Sunday
Congratulations to everybody who ran this weekend. For those who achieved a PB, great job. For the rest, there is always the next time! Just back from a relatively easy 9.6 kms at 5:28/km. While I am feeling the effort of getting back into running, it wasn't so bad today and my hamstring is not givi...

Re: SATURDAY get ready and GO
The very best of luck to all the racers this weekend, wherever you may be. From my side, did 12.1 kms at an average 5:27/km today. Would like to say it went easily but that wasn't quite true. My excuse is that it was beginning to get warm. No matter, the most important thing is that I did it....

Managed another 9.6 kms this evening. This was quite a bit faster than a couple of days ago but I did feel the pace (5:29/km). My leg held up well though - looking promising!

Re: Victoria Day Monday
Had an up and down day. Somebody, in their wisdom, decided to spray graffiti on my new garage door last night so that was a great start to the day. My 93 year old father-in-law is also in hospital so we had discussions when DW should fly down to help out. I may also end up going depending on how bad...

A very slow 5km this morning. I wasn't intending to go for a run but the weather was so great that I just had to get out and do something. No hamstring issues so still looking good.

I am a (very slow) runner again! Did a gentle (5:51/km) 5.2kms and it went really well. The weather was fantastic for running and it felt so good to be back. Now to avoid overdoing things for the next little while.

Did 30 minutes stair work yesterday evening, the first training session after taking a few days off on my physio's advice. Was hard but actually not as tough as I was expecting.

Great run Lisa. Glad to hear it went so well for you and that the race was well organized. I was concerned about that part even though I didn't get to run this in the end.

That's hard but I hope you quickly get over whatever is troubling you. Every now and again we all run much slower than we are capable of. You have bounced back in the past and I am sure you will do it again soon.
