Thanks all for your kind and encouraging words! 3:41 first km feels a little fast - think that caught up with you on the back half? well it likely did in one way or another, but that's the opening I wanted and when I saw the time on my watch I was happy about it :D I probably leapfrogged with you af...

Re: The how to run a race stupid

I am pretty sure I was running behind you when you took your first walking steps at about 2.5 k and I was surprised because from my point of view your running looked fine, not like someone who was cramping, limping or breathing hard. So it must have been something internal that shut you down. There ...

Re: Robin's ATB Result

That was the goal, to have a great race and I did. It's sometimes hard to articulate why a "great race" often feels better than a PB, especially when the two often go together. I like your approach of focusing on the process and mindset that you could control, rather than the end result. ...

b_squared's 4th spring race - OTMH 5k - pg.2

My first race report in long time! (quoted from my journal) Many positives to come out of today's race for me. This definitely goes onto the list for next year. Had a chance to meet several maniacs for the first time (Mark, HCcD, Purdy65, toobusy) along with Robbie-T, Doonst, casual runner, mid-pack...

I am in the same boat as you La, with races of multiple distances coming up. When I have similar questions I like to refer back to this post by Robbie-T and other comments in that thread, which basically add up to: training for races 5k up to half-m is quite similar, with maybe slight changes in emp...
