Re: Bike for Kids 2017 (Vancouver to St. John's)
I forgot to post that they're done! It took them 49 days to get to St. John's. They arrived on Thursday, finishing atop Signal Hill!
They celebrated in style by being "screeched in," kissing the cod and all that.

Re: 2017 Tour de France (SPOILERS)
My friend and her dad were on the Galibier yesterday, 2K from the summit. I saw them on TV! It wasn't hard to spot them because I knew where they were going to be standing and their group was dressed in costume.

Where is the rest of Astana? They're doing nothing to support Aru and defend the jersey. What's up with that?

Re: 2017 Tour de France (SPOILERS)
I won't have a chance to watch today's stage until later or tomorrow (and I don't know what's going on currently). Any bets on whether Volkler will try to break away today, Bastille Day, in his final Tour? It wouldn't surprise me.

Re: 2017 Tour de France (SPOILERS)
Is the time bonus thing back again? Is this the first year? They took it away a number of years ago. I didn't know it had been brought back. That was quite the ending to the stage. I wouldn't say the stage itself was exciting, but the final climb certainly was. I didn't expect Froome to crack like t...

Re: 2017 Tour de France (SPOILERS)
That Porte crash was horrific. Dan Martin is lucky he didn't suffer more serious injury. I've been listening to Lance Armstrong's Stages podcast where he recaps each stage of the Tour. The comment he made about Aru was that it was almost as if he'd ducked right under Froome's raised arm to attack at...

Re: Toronto Waterfront 10K was AWESOME.
I concur with pretty much most of what you said. The breeze was only in the last 2.5K after the turnaround, and if there was shade on the course, I never found it! ;) The picnic tables with table cloths and flowers was also a nice touch (much nicer and easier than sitting on the ground). Good post-r...

Less than 5 miles to go! The other team has finished (5 days, 17 hours, 44 minutes). Team TPL is solidly in 2nd place. Go TTPL, GO!

Their current elapsed time is 5 days, 7 hours and 30 minutes. They'll likely beat the previous Canadian record by 15-20 hours.

They're 2 checkpoints away from the finish! Still in second place. I think they're only about 30 miles from the finish, so they'll be done within the next 2 hours, I think.

Re: Race Across America (RAAM)
They've closed the gap a bit and are now only 10 miles behind the leaders. They're approaching the Allegheny Mountain range. It's nothing like the Rockies that they went through at the beginning of their race, but it's still a lot of climbing. Then it's all downhill into Annapolis.

it's very hard to follow on that website, though.
I don't know if it's easier to follow directly from the TTPL web site:
http://www.teamtpl.com/race-tracking
ETA: it's much easier to follow on a full web browser rather than a mobile browser.

TL;DR - She let the air out of a competitor's tires in transition before the start of the swim.

Re: Race Across America (RAAM)
TTPL has dropped back to 2nd place. They are at mile 2640, which puts them past Cincinnati, OH, 38 miles from the next checkpoint in Athens, OH. Then they cross over into the northern tip of West Virginia. They are 34 miles behind the leaders (the team that they've been trading places with for the l...

Solstice Wednesday
Happy Summer, everyone! It doesn't really feel like it here (13C this morning, going up to 23C later today).
Even though I ran home from work yesterday, I'm going to meet my runpub group for our usual Solstice Run. Not sure if I'll make it to the lighthouse, though (that's 10K round trip).

Team TPL is still in the lead. They're about 5 miles ahead of the second place team, just outside St. Louis, MO.

They were just on Global News in Winnipeg! Habs, they're wearing lime green cycling kit. I was past Winnipeg by 7:30am Manitoba time. I was almost thinking they might have been further east already. PS. It's Virden, MB They had to wait for their bikes to be fixed at MEC, so they had to hang around ...
