Re: Moncton 20-25th. July

Mouse, any particular event that you enjoyed? The only tape I was able to see was the women's 3,000m. and 100m. A coaching mate was there with his runner and I'm hoping he will bring home more footage. Glad you enjoyed the games Babysteps!!! It's a long held belief of mine that runners; ALL RUNNERS,...

ROW, did I ever tell you how I ran a sub 4 min. mile back in the 70's. True dinks - cross my heart and hope to die!!! Three of us, all C and B grade runners ran a measured (surveyors wheel) course and were all under the 4. My time was 3m.56.87sec. Only thing is it was on a bush track which was a 1 i...

Women's marathon running.

Kristen's earlier post on women's marathon running got me thinking. (I've too much time on my hands) Some stats. The men's World Record is 2.03.59 held of course by the great Haile Gebrselassie of Ethiopia. 2.06. has been bettered 32 times by 19 different runners, and 2.05., 9 times by 7 different r...

I love this thread. Okay, but seriously, what were people drinking back in the 70s? I want some of that! Kristen I ran my first marathon in 1972. If you are talking about what people were drinking during a marathon; well you had the choise of water or water. Incidentally, water bottles or cup...

Must have been a real corker of a race, 10 under 13 minutes and (11th) SHAHEEN Saif Saaeed back from injury, it would be great to see him bang out another good steeple. None of you have mentioned the 800 metres! An event that has stagnated since the retirement of world record holder Wilson Kipketer....

“History is written by the victors, uless they are Canadian"

Taken from our Aths. Association newsletter. (seems I get more info on Canadian aths. here than I do from RM) Beyond a shadow of a doubt Usain Bolt is the ‘world’s fastest man,’ but before the Jamaican juggernaut, was the rightful owner of that moniker? According to a new BBC documentary entitled Us...

"There’s a bible in my bag and its not mine"

I took this from our Aths. Association newsletter. The prospect of lost luggage is a rare but annoying reality of international travel, and for world sprint hurdles silver medallist Priscilla Lopes Schlieps, it came with its own added twist on her recent jaunt to Doha. Arriving in the Qatari capital...

Re: Different Perspective on Barefoot Running

A bit of irony that at the top of that article was an Asics ad for the Gel-Nimbus-12 - "with extra cushioning". I agree with Goucher - there's a place for barefoot sessions, but find it hard to believe that running continually barefoot is sustainable for most runners other than those who a...

Have just finished watching the video. What a GREAT race!!! Thanks once again for posting this Michael. Nothing about Solinsky suggested he'd be the man to do this!
