On the schedule page it says they will be in Hungry Hallow (actually its Hungry Hollow) which is the Silver Creek ravine between old Georgetown and Georgetown South. There are old trails and a new gravel path. http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2548484 Doonst, at which end of this trail is the gravel...

So, based on the feedback, I think that I will stick with the clinic and see how I like it. I will do the group long runs on Sunday and then add on mileage where I feel the need to. I think that like scrumhalfgirl I will find at first that it doesn't feel "worth it" to drive to the store for some of...

Thanks everyone! BJH, I hadn't thought about finding others in the clinic who want to run a bit longer, but that could be a good option. Dgrant, my mileage the past few months definitely isn't huge (about 30-35km/week), but it is on par with the first few weeks of the Higdon novice marathon program,...

Running clinic dilemma

So, I decided to sign up for a Running Room 1/2M clinic. I have never raced before, but I thought that a clinic would give me the motivation to begin extending my long runs again, and more importantly, would add some structure to my mid-week runs and give me a group to run with in the dark so I can ...

Larry, it's great that you are making an effort to pass along what you've learned to other runners. I was thinking of taking the half marathon clinic at that store, as it's near where I work and running in a group would get me outside during the week rather than on the treadmill. (I'm not a fan of r...

Hey were you running along the Don Valley trails this afternoon? I was talking with a runner for a few minutes today, on my run - was that you? :) Nope, that wasn't me! I do pass pretty close to that trail, as I run through Moore Park ravine, Mount Pleasant cemetery and the Beltline trail, but I st...

yaaaaaaaaay another person who counts in miles instead of km!! (we are a minority here... )

Yes, I've noticed that! Kms just do not compute in my brain - even when I'm on my gym's km-based treadmill I'm constantly doing math! Does that make us bad Canadians? :(

Ugh, bad LSD today - ran 1 min/mile slower than usual, with a higher perceived effort. Was planning for 12 miles but cut it short at 10.2 - I don't know what made this bad run come on all of a sudden, but guess I should be satisifed with getting a solid run in under the circumstances. I've been incr...

Thanks everyone! Dgrant, I was originally thinking of doing the 2 Toronto marathons, as I was having a tough time choosing between the two. I was worried that they were too close together for a first time racer, but I'll think again about giving it a shot. a_beacher, it would definitely be interesti...

Thanks for the input! I didn't realize that Angus Glen sells out, but now that I know I'll make sure to plan in advance. Since it sounds like there will be plenty of time to recover sufficiently and fit in a 2nd fall 1/2, I think I'll set an ambitious goal for Scotia and see how it plays out. Then i...

1st 1/2M - what would you do?

Hi everyone, I'm a long-time lurker, first time poster :) I've been running on and off for about 3 years, but have never raced before. A couple of months ago I re-committed to running and have decided that it would be fun to work toward a specific goal, so I am now aiming for a fall 1/2 marathon. I ...
