Re: This is getting out of hand: Green Bay Marathon cancell

Oh I see what you mean. But of course if they shut it down after only 2.5 or 3 hrs there would only be 12 people who would have finished. But that doesn't mean that the rest of them wouldn't be able to finish without medical attention. I still say if they can't support the race and have to keep canc...

I really don't understand how some folks (honestly not picking on you in particular Jenn, just that your quote is representative of the general attitude) feel it's okay to tell other people how seriously they should take something as absolutely personal as a hobby. If it's a person's perspective th...

Re: 2012 - Run for the Toad - registration open!

I love this one! Tempted to sign up and just walk most of it. You can do it! One year I walked all but the first 1K with a friend. Plans were to run it but her asthma was acting up and she wasn't feeling great when she ran. So after only 1K, she was thinking about quitting and I said if she ...

Re: 2012 - Run for the Toad - registration open!

I'm going to be three days into a 14-day Hawaiian Cruise with my parents and my two sisters!! And it is even paid for by my Dad and Mom!! Can you post a link to the Cruise Info. THAT is so on my travel bucket list, and there doesn't HAVE to be a race at the end.... This is the cruise that we are go...

Sadly, after nine years straight of doing the Toad, I am not going to be able to run it this year. :( https://www.onlineregistrations.ca/toad/ So, what are YOU doing on September 29??? I'm going to be three days into a 14-day Hawaiian Cruise with my parents and my two sisters!! And it is even paid f...

Re: 2012 - Run for the Toad - registration open!

They are taking 1400 this year. Last year it was 1350. They have a new 50K relay team event this year. Four members each running 12.5K. But they are only taking 20 teams. It looks like there could be three teams signed up so far. I am thinking this might be why they increased it by 50. Even though t...

Re: Fat Ass Trail Run Anyone?

That is a great photo -- well except for my nasty hair! I had a great time, and it was nice to meet more maniacs! Too bad I had to leave so quickly afterwards, but I was getting picked up to go to Cornwall for work. However I did manage to shovel a bowl of chili into my tummy and a cookie or t...

Re: Fat Ass Trail Run Anyone?

So if you don't like the forecast, then find another one.... haha Accuweather says the rain isn't until 5 p.m. Race start at 10 a.m. is 10°C and partly sunny. But the "real feel" is only 4°C or 5°C. Wind of 38 or 40 km/hr! But we're protected from the wind in the woods. Right?

Re: GetOutThere Mag Video Race reviews

I just went in the Toad website to see if they had posted the date and registration for next year and noticed the video. Great job showing what the race is like!

That should allow for munchie time at the aid stations too, Crash! They have lots of yummy stuff. It changes from year to year, but it is always worth a stop (or two).

Re: Fat Ass Trail Run Anyone?

Cathy and I were out at the training run for the 7.5K route last Sunday. Like usual, we took up the rear. Of course, part of that was because we were stopping for photo ops. Plus we are just really slow as we are trying to avoid (1) falling and doing a face plant (so far so good); and (2) rolling ou...

Re: Fat Ass Trail Run Anyone?

I've decided to reduce to the 10K from the 17.5K. I have to leave for Cornwall in the afternoon for work, and if I do 17.5K I will be out there for about 3 hrs or so which will make it a rush to get home, shower and get on the road and arrive in Cornwall by supper. I am just too slow to get the whol...

Re: Fat Ass Trail Run Anyone?

Great pictures, thanks for sharing! Looks like a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to this even more now although I think I was probably way too optimistic when I guessed my LSD pace to estimate my finish time.  I believe you can change your distance or your predicted finishing time r...

Re: Fat Ass Trail Run Anyone?

I just meant that the 10K doesn't use the Ski Hill....that's all...(bad wording)... I contemplated the 10K last year but thought that the ski hill area was part of the fun so switched to the 7.5K. It was my first trail run ever and I thought it was really great. I wasn't sure what you meant, but th...

Re: Fat Ass Trail Run Anyone?

We did the 7.5K on Sunday and I think the 10K could be considered more technical. However, there is a single track through the woods as you are heading back towards the ski hill. If they don't get some of the trees dragged off the trail there (thanks to the owners for cutting them down  ) you ...

Re: Fat Ass Trail Run Anyone?

I believe that they said they were updating the Events On-line website fairly quickly as they got them. A couple of my friends registered on Oct 5 and their names were on there the next day or day after, I think. And I registered at the store and my name is on there.

Re: Fat Ass Trail Run Anyone?

The 10K doesn't run the ski hill but there is another good sized hill that you do have to go up so you wouldn't be shortchanged on a hill. The ski hill is a VERY hard run. I have a hard time getting up it and I just walk up it. It seems to have gotten more steep! Don't know if it is age for me...

The photos you took ARE great! My leg is fine. It wasn't that bad -- but noticeable enough that Heather commented on it at the Y on Monday evening. I can see why you wouldn't want to get lost, but eventually you end up at either Frankford, Stockdale Road, Highway 33 or Bernard Long Road! :P I always...

Re: Fat Ass Trail Run Anyone?

We ran through there on Sunday! That cold water felt pretty good on the feet! There wasn't a lot of mud anywhere else though. :( irun4me, did you see that Jeff and Dennis went out and cleared a trail for the single track on the hill north of Perry Drive? This was because we had a hard time finding o...
