Sorry, I wasn't ignoring you Joanne. I just missed your post. This year it is September 18. Here is the RR link for registering. The price is very reasonable - $15 up until Aug 18 (coming up fast) and $20 after that.

Happy belated birthday, Chris!! It is amazing that you had that good a run after celebrating! Are you sure you had sobered up?? Well, I went on a nice 44K bike ride through Prince Edward County with 17 of my closest friends! We had a great time. It started to drizzle as we left the Crystal Pal...

See 1904 - Nov 11 - James Jenkins - what the heck is "softening of the brain" caused by business troubles??? If I had time, I would scroll ahead and see just how many years it goes to! Maybe we may see some names we recognize from the political field! There are some really strange causes in there - ...

I just hope you weren't Richard Murphy, Garth! What a way to go insane!! You have to check it out to see what I mean.... I looked a couple years further. Someone was committed because they were idiotic. Hmmm..... that could describe a lot of people these days. And they're all still walking ar...

I've done the half four times (2000, 2001, 2002, 2003) and the full once (2004). The only reason why I didn't go back this year was I was cheering on our friend and mentor, Sandy, who was attempting her 100 miler at Sulphur Springs. And I had the chance to run a 10K trail run with my daughter there!...

Sandbanks 5K & 10K

This is another smaller run, held at Sandbanks Provincial Park in Prince Edward County. I have done this run five or six times. If you like running outside urban areas this is a good run for you. Most of it is on pavement through the park. There is part where you run along a dirt road with some poth...

This is a fun day, all in all. It IS hot, it IS hilly. But it is still fun. If you don't want to run TOO long in the heat, then you can do like my daughter did and just run the 5K. It was great to meet many other forumites at the Lonestar who had made the trek to Wolfe Island for the run. I have it ...

I ran the half too about three or four years ago (the runs are all starting to blend together and I am too lazy to go upstairs and check the date on my photo!). I ran it with a friend. I think I liked the run better than she did. It was very neat to see the CN Tower in the distance and realize that ...

I really enjoyed this race when I did it in back in March. I think that was mostly because I ran the first 22K with Trixiee. She is just the nicest person and I really enjoyed getting to know her during the run. Ran 10 & 1s with her at a pace that was a little slower than I was used to, and subs...

Tri & Run Sports/Trenton

If anyone is interested in getting some great deals and friendly service, and they are in the Trenton area, they should drop into Tri & Run Sports. The great thing is, the store is just north of the 401 in the Riverview Plaza at 255 Glen Miller Road (across the street from Rona/Cashway, just a t...

Longboat Registration $$ Going Up

If anyone is planning on registering for Longboat on Sept 11, the cost goes from $30 to $35 on August 14. If you get in the first 800 registered, you will get a long-sleeved technical t-shirt. What a great deal!

For further info, check out my review under Event Reviews.

Longboat - Toronto Island - September 11, 2005

This is one of my favourite races. I have done it since 1999. I like it so much I have even driven all the way to Toronto (2 hours) by myself to do it! This event is a 10K and 5K run and a 5K power walk. The route is partly on pavement, partly on grass and the last part on the boardwalk. If you are ...

Most people I know, other than my running friends, think running more than a few blocks or for more than about 15 minutes is crazy. They can't understand why I would want to run for two or three hours on a training run or run a half or full. I can relate to what others have said on here about the av...
