Re: Run for the Toad 2010

A bunch of us are registered from this area. It is my eighth and Heather's fifth. That's right, I have five duffel bags and two back packs. Haven't gotten rid of any of them. Can pretty well colour coordinate the duffel bags to my wardrobe. I really love the backpacks more than the duffels though. I...

Re: Treadmill use during training??

As far as spinning... It doesn't even actually replicate road biking. [Dark Side Comment] It certainly does, and in many cases it can be made to be harder than riding outside. [/Dark Side Comment] I'm not a dark sider - maybe that is why I say that. I did spinning several years before I got a bike ...

Re: Treadmill use during training??

I HATE the treadmill. That being said, as someone mentioned previously, it is great for speedwork. I did all my speedwork on it a few years ago and I firmly believe that is what took me to my goal which was to break two hours for a half. Wasn't there a guy on the RR website that did all his running ...

That made me cry too. Wow, he has had a really rough go of it.

Lots of times the best races are the ones that you don't do for yourself. You sound like a great friend!

Re: Rooms for Around the Bay

I wouldn't drive for three and half hours on race day and then the same distance back home, either. Even if I was just cheering. Why not share a room and get up rested in the morning so you can have the most fun?? It's bad enough just having to drive home that distance after the big event! They make...

Re: Trixiee' Cruise to Run Report (Long)

Great report, Pat and well worth waiting for! It sounds like you had a wonderful time! The photos are great and brought back lots of good memories from when we went two years ago. Did you walk all the way out and back to the Fort in Antigua?

Now you have me wanting to go on another cruise!

It is your duty to update ATB and McMillan info or your friends will do ... Move yourself from Just from fun section ( we are all doing it just for fun, maybe with exception of Robbie who wants to qualify for Olympics ) - don't afraid to enter into a tough Shallonge and you might win a potato trophy...

I phoned the store today and spoke to Cathy...so I booked a room at the Marriott too cuz she told me you were staying there. Yes...I'm stalking you :D   That is ok - stalk away! Hopefully I can get serious about training so that I can do this thing! I remember when 21K used to be easy an...

Re: Around The Bay 2010

What hotel did you book at Joanne? I believe Petra booked us a room at the Marriott on Upper James based on the chance that we "might" do ATB. If I am going to do it, I should probably train better than I did for Philly. Although I did manage a 2:34 on running twice a week, which actually ...

Marg, I thought I had commented on your report earlier in the week, but I guess I didn't! It sounds like you had a great run and overcame the adversities of the crowd and the ankle roll. You sure look good in all your photos - as someone else already mentioned, always smiling! I thought Philly was a...

Thanks everyone! I never thought you would be tracking me or I would have run faster! Actually considering I ran that race about 20 lbs too heavy and with training where I ran only twice or occasionally three times a week, with my longest run being 17K last weekend, I am pretty happy with my r...

Re: Hunter not guilty in trail death

I remember going out trail running at Batawa a couple of years ago. As we ran across the ridge of the ski hill, we heard shots being fired below. We high tailed it back across that ridge pretty fast. I was definitely not comfortable being out there knowing there were hunters there -- with guns! The ...

Re: Fat Ass 25km trail race in Batawa

The Fat Ass in Batawa is the toughest trail race I've done (although I haven't done that crazy Rattlesnake one that everyone talks about). I didn't do the back 10K yesterday but it is normally muddy, muddy, muddy. And at this time of year, you just never know what is under those leaves. I actually p...

Oh Holly, that must have been so tough to go out and run 10K after receiving that news. I am thinking your aunt must have been out there with you, to help you to such an excellent time. It sounds like your family has been through a lot the past few months. Look after yourselves and each other. My si...

Is Your A$$ Fat Enough?

Jo-Jo, Heather and I were out at Batawa today, giving Jo-Jo a preview for the Fat A$$ in three weeks. We only took a couple of photos - we were having so much fun. They are here: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=9448422&l=d141818443&id=784825176" onclick="window.open(this.href);return f...

It started just as we drove away - that was around 3:45 or 4:00 I think. The whole sky opened up and it rained until we got almost to Toronto. I think it just hit us here now. It WAS a great weather day for running.

Wasn't it $70? It is the same bag as last year, just brown instead of black. I love last year's and use it all the time. It seems everywhere I go these days I am carrying Toad bags.

We didn't get anything inside it last year.
