Ottawa Race Weekend (NCM) - May 25-27, 2007

Postby BaldGuy » Sat Jan 06, 2007 2:17 pm

Since we've got one of these for the Chilly Half, I figured we might as well start one for NCM. So who's going to be in Ottawa in May, and for which event? I've filled in the folks who have been publicly talking about going. Please copy the list (from the bottommost post, please) and add yourself (or remove yourself) as needed:

Anners' post made me remember to mention one thing to out-of-towners considering this great event and shopping for accomodation:

Although it would obviously be ideal to stay right downtown becuase Ottawa has such a pretty core, NCM is a VERY easy race to access by car on raceday because it's just a few blocks north of the queensway, which is not blocked/closed by the race. (It is a b**** to park within a few blocks of the start/finish though.)

Anyway, if you want to save some $, or want to wait until later in the spring to book a hotel, I'm just saying that you can definitely consider accomodations east or west of downtown for NCM.

We're going to try this new thing called jogging. Or maybe it's yogging-with a silent "j". Apparently you just run for an extended period of time. It's supposed to be wild.

Thanks for the tips! I looked up hotel prices and they were quite high. I started considering Mississauga again...

I will definitively participate one way or the other. I will make up my mind after Boston. The only sure thing is that I won't run the marathon.
I run because it's fun.

In another life:
3 marathons including Boston twice (PB: 3:47), 6 halfs (PB: 1:45), 6 10k (PB: 46:41) and 3 5ks (PB: 21:00)

I believe Ottawa University has suites that are quite reasonably priced. Ottawa U is within walking distance of the strart line :D

Yes, Lightning, we must discuss -- definitely looking at U of O. I just got an email from them saying they're accepting reservations for the summer now. That's where I stayed last year (except this year I want a suite, not a dorm room) and it was unbelievably close -- could hear the cheering from my room.

Oh my... I am so excited but so nervous to start the training. I can almost assure you that if/when I make it to the start line of this one, I will be very emotional because for the past year the thought of running a marathon has been extremely daunting. I can tell you this as well- I will not be registering until AFTER I have successfully completed my last long run- I don't care if I pay more!

Bring it on baby... 8)

Wow!!! There is going to be one HECK of a M&G at Ottawa!!!!

All I'm waiting for is for ING to give us details about corporate entry, accommodations, etc. Once we have that, we'll be booking the flights, etc.

See you all there (I HOPE I HOPE I HOPE  ).
