(mods: we'll move this to site news in a couple of days... I want the exposure here for now ;)

I'm excited to show you all RM's latest addition: route maps!

All registered users can now post their favourite routes, including images (if you have a satellite image).

check it out here: http://www.runningmania.com/resources/routes

and let me know what you think!

there probably are bugs... if you find anything that seems wonky or isn't working, post it here and I will fix it.

thanks!

oh, and thanks to all my testers who tried it out and gave me feedback while I was building it. :)

That's awesome Holly - thanks for setting this up.

My prediction - this is going to be very, very big - I can see this generating a lot of external traffic.

Holly, this is so cool! Thanks.

Hey, can I edit my own route or do you have to do it? When I click on "Edit your routes" it doesn't actually go anywhere.

I just wanted to add a note to the Niagara-on-the-Lake route I posted. I wanted to mention that's it's...

21 km out and back (10.5 km each way)

I should probably also mention that there are numerous small parking lots/picnic areas all along the route so people could start and finish wherever they wanted to.

You're right...the ambiguous title lured me here!

Great feature...and believe it or not I've never run the route jgore in Kingston posted...definitely sometime to run this summer.

looks cool, but it didn't like the size of my image :p

I want to just export from SportTracks, and upload straight in. If I have to resize, it's too much bother.

Ok, throw things at me now. I'm just a lazy @ss. But seriously, I hate resizing images especially when I can just post the image straight into a training log on the board with no problem.

EDIT: It was 800 x 461

600 is big enough... anything bigger throws off all the formatting. You don't HAVE to put a picture in with the route, but it certainly is helpful. And if you had a bunch of routes to add, you could resize the pics all at once and it'd take 5 minutes. ;)

Do you want images included, or do you prefer none, to speed up the loading? Or does it even affect the speed the page loads at?

Hi again Holly,

I'm also having a problem editing the route I previously uploaded.

My latest route - "Downtown-Hwy15-Kingston Mills" - isn't taking the map, though it's only 500 x 581.

"Edit Routes" will let me edit the route I just entered, but not the other route that is in my name.

Holly, it won't let me edit a route I just entered (though it does allow me to edit one I entered the other day). I'm just pasting the URL here until I can edit the route and post it there.
