I conquered the Great Wall of China Marathon!!!
Greetings from Beijing. Yesterday I ran the Great Wall of China marathon. It was the most difficult and AMAZING marathon that I have ever run. The wall was killer on the quads, but running through the small villages in the countryside made up for the pain. The villagers were extremely friendly and supportive. If you ever get the chance, you absolutely must do this marathon!
Have spend every other day on tours and have seen many great things. (except for the "squat toilets" which are very hard to use the day after the marathon )
Full marathon and trip report to follow when I return.

Wow!
Congrats! I knew that would be a killer marathon. All uphill (well alot anyway).
Glad you are enjoying your trip, and since you sound in one piece, I'm glad you weren't affected by the earthquake!
I spent some time in Shanghai in February, and really enjoyed it!
Have fun on the rest of your trip!

I am so freaking jealous. Wish I was there to experience what sounds like an amazing race. I wish you well on the rest of your journey. Have a safe trip back to the great white north: the land of sit down toilets. Oh, and who says running is not a life transforming sport?

Congratulation!!
My fiancee has wanted to d that marathon for a few years now. Were planning on signing up for next year.
I've hear that not much of the marathon actually takes place on the wall it self. Is this true?
