Just back from my first stab at Nordic Walking.
7.1 miles in 2:17 ....... I never realized how much extra bit of work using those poles are . I concentrated on keeping a steady, easy pace.
And tried not to think about how much faster I covered that same ground last spring
But the taco salad I had when I came in tasted just as yummy

Went and watched the boy play soccer this morning, came home to make brunch and then had a glorious nap.
Off to dinner at the Keg tonight.
Needless to say, today was a rest day .
Hope everyone had a great day,

First gel of the year consumed! 24K LSD out in the country today, very nice out. Wind not too bad especially compared to yesterday. The dirt roads were too muddy so I had to restructure the route on the fly. Pace was 5:35, starting to come around on the bare pavement. First long run in Mizuno Inspire 5's; very cushy but I got a blister on my heel. I didn't notice it until dressing after shower so it couldn't be all that bad. Almost on track for ATB!

Finished the 2nd marathon-paced long run of my program. Total of 31k, with 90 minutes at marathon-pace (4:15ish). The mixed conditions definitely added a degree of difficulty to the proceedings; a thin layer of soft-packed snow/ice interspersed with asphalt and black ice.
Overall it was a success: I'll be in pretty good shape before I take off for Cuba and take another crack at cycle-touring while marathon training.

Perfect 1 hour run, down in Fish Creek - ran into another maniac down by the river, listened to a podcast, ran in shorts and was WAY too warm for february.

11km run done... I started out with the intention of going for two hours, but after about a half hour I just wanted to go home. It wasn't even cold! I have been really emotionally drained and down the past few days, and hopefully I get my mojo back soon. It's looking less and less likely that I'll be training for the NCM full... I'm flipflopping day by day! Oh well. It looks like the weather will be a bit warmer this week, and I have two four day weeks coming up, so that helps.
