May 19th, 2005 I decided to start running...at 6'3" and around 270lbs I needed it. Having in the past been in great shape made it alot harder as my mind wanted to do things my body couldn't.
My first run was a "run a bit walk a bit" to the end of my road...the reult was (according to my GArmin...I spent $$ to keep motivated )
2.2km in 19:30
I was exhausted, coughing, blinking lights, pounding chest...it was'nt pretty.
21 runs later (I know it should be alot more but my schedule is never consistant) Last night I ran 15min x 30 sec walk for four "laps" on a hill filled route and clocked 8.71km in 1hr......
I am not a "self promoter" in life but I have to say that i am quite proud of that little run....
As with all posts of this nature, I have to thank everyone on this board (whether here or RR you all helped)
Inspiration & Information (put that on your logo ) is what you all have given, so "Thanks"
My own PB..

Great work monolithic. The difficult part of any program is to get going but once you start seeing results, you realize your efforts are not wasted and it feels great. Keep at it and like you say, use this forum to learn and stay motivated (I do) for the good and perhaps not so good days (hey, we have those once in awhile too). Just remember to be patient, and things will happen. I say that for myself as well

I agree with Paul 100%. You've already made such great progress, and you're going to make a lot more now that you're over the first hump.
Good thing you changed your screen name when you came to this site. The old one wouldn't seem right.

Great work...isn't it neat when you look back and think to yourself..."gee..it wasn't so long ago that I couldn't run to the end of the block...and look at me now!"
