Re: Running Goals for 2010
My running goal this year is to run my first Full Marathon in May, 2010. I'm registered for the Mississauga Marathon. I'm also registered for the Around the Bay in March, 2010 which is a huge goal as well and and I figure, a good lead up to the full.

Re: Running Goals for 2010
-Get cleared to run again (looking at January if rehab goes well).
-Run a half or two during base rebuilding.
-Stay uninjured.
-Be more diligent about cross-training and lifting, goal of 2x/week.
-Don't get reinjured!
-Start marathon training in about August...(for Goofy 2011, of course!)
-Volunteer at more races, and as a coach for the Women's Learn to Run program again.

Yeah, but Dory has no short term memory, so she doesn't remember that she's a fish. Besides, I decided I'm not a big fan of swimming, so to chant, "Just keeps swimming, just keep swimming," would be silly.

Re: Running Goals for 2010
I generally don't share running goals with anyone other than my coach. But what the heck:
In 2010 I would like to:
PB in a HalfM
PB in a 5km (did I just say that...I hate 5km as a race distance )
Run a strong FullM in the Fall.
And most of all...Run Happy and Run Hard.

start over.
I am signed up for a race which may be way to ambitious considering my lack of fitness and year off. We'll see, I guess.

Join the club. Just do the best you can. That's all you can ask of yourself. And DON'T put too much pressure on yourself. It'll come, but you have to give it time. You CAN do it.
Re: Running Goals for 2010
Well I have had 3 great races this year and 1 total blow out...but all in all I am very happy with my running this year. Here are some goals for 2010:
1. increase my overall yearly mileage and stay injury free
2. 3 hr 30 km @ ATB
3. 4:15 full marathon @ Mississauga
4. 1:50 half in the fall
I would also like to race another 10 km, and a 5 km - but I am undecided still. Mostly - I want to stay injury free and have FUN!!!

None!
There. That means ANYTHING I do surpasses this! That should make it easy to beat this year since 2009 was a bit of a let down for me.

For me it will be the year ;
1. I break 24 minutes for 5km
2. Compete in an Olympic distance Duathlon

Re: Running Goals for 2010
General:
Get faster on the run (and the bike, and swim... )
Running:
Sub 20min 5k
Sub 43min 10k
ATB (for the first time); goal is sub 2h40min
Main running event is New York Marathon in November - I'm not sure of the goal for that race yet, though.
Triathlon:
No Ironman this year, a couple HIM for which the "A" goal is to go sub-5hr.
I'm going to race a couple of Olympic distance Tri's - goal is sub 2h10min

Re: Running Goals for 2010
I've been thinking about my running goals since reading this thread.
We have a pretty big racing schedule this year but my main goals are:
1. Running pain free.
2. Going back to physio and dealing with my recurrent PF
3. Finishing my 3rd marathon upright and smiling (Chicago!)
4. Stop obssessing about my slower pace, coming back from my injury is taking a long time...
5. Doing most of these with my boyfriend =)

Re: Running Goals for 2010
My running goals are very simple:
1) Run consistently at least 3 times a week.
2) Enter a race whatever the distance and be able to really race it.

I run because it's fun.
In another life:
3 marathons including Boston twice (PB: 3:47), 6 halfs (PB: 1:45), 6 10k (PB: 46:41) and 3 5ks (PB: 21:00)

Re: Running Goals for 2010
I trained hard and ran a 3:10 after turning 50 in 2009...paid for it with a sore achilles for the rest of the year.
So in 2010 the goal is recovery, strength and regaining the natural joy of getting out there on the trails and roads.
No races until I feel I have something to prove.
Cheers,
Scott

Re: Running Goals for 2010
Also to find a good race weight. I want to be at the perfect weight so my times can be the fastest they can. I'm sitting at around 135 right now and in the past 3 weeks or so have lost about 5 pounds from increasing mileage. I think around 140 is to heavy, I think 125-128 is my best race weight at 5'10.ROW wrote:I want to run a sub 18 5km
