If you're in, where are you planning to stay? We'll probably look at Port Orleans or another moderate-price on-site resort.

June 26: Legal Run-Around 5K, Wilmington (28:51, PR!)

Booking this week! We were also looking at Port Orleans but also Animal Kingdom Lodge if I can get a good deal (it's our 10th anniversary and I want giraffes outside my hotel room). I hear our mom's have been talking and are training buddies for the year. :D

Animal Kingdom would be awesome! Owen would love it for sure! I do think our moms have been talking about being training partners for the half. Mom signed up for Goofy though, so she has a bit more training in store for her! One of my best friends from Atlanta is going to be running the half with her husband and brother too--she'll have a 9-month old by then!

Umm, the actual date is January 6-9, 2011 ...

Haven't decied yet, but, if I do return in 2011, Port Orleans French Quarters would be my recommendation ..

Though, may stay at a Time Share due to budget constraints ... we'll see ..

Lifetime race count: 6 Halfs, 6 Fulls, part of a Death Race, some 10Ks thrown in there too
Marathon #5 dedicated to my sister and all cancer survivors...please see this link for my dedication: http://www3.telus.net/ccandhh

Still waffling about Goofy 2011 ... :? and/or Disneyland 1/2 2010

Apparently, it's Disneyland's 5th Anniversary for the 1/2 this year, and a special medal will be give out ... let alone the Coast-to-Coast Challenge Award ..

Also, just noticed that they raised the price of Goofy to $310US this year ... another $25US increase ... that is, $50.00US over the past 2 years  :?

I vote yes  Although the price increases are killing me. My bank account will smile when I change to every-other year after 2011! You probably still have some time to decide though--last year they re-opened registration twice, IIRC. Would love to see you again in Florida though!

Based on my experience, Disney was worth the money. I have run the Goofy once and just the marathon once. You will have an excellent race experience and if you stay on the resort, you dont have to worry about making any travel plans to the expo or to and from the race.

That said, I think I have done my last Disney marathon, just because there are so many other marathons out there to run and $150 /CDN for a marathon (and especially $150 for a 1/2) is just getting a little too pricey for me. Like Andy, my wife and I are considering the Disneyland 1/2 so we can get the Coast to Coast medal.

We're seriously considering it. Need to look at the finances once I start my new job next week to see if we can make it work. Airfare from here to there is crazy expensive! Multi-stops start about $600US per person, and there aren't any non-stops available since we live in the sticks, apparently. I'll let you know as soon as we decide for sure though.

I am a litle nervous for his chances of taking the children's 100m dash though! He has to compete against 3 year olds this time.

And the little one is already harassing me to go to Disney. We have to look at the Disney World site daily on the internet because it is "my disney" is his words.

Wouldn't Owen still be 2 at race day ?

And, besides, I thought that they had a number of heats for the kiddie events ?

When you gonna get Owen into a structured training program? How long will he run up to? Gonna include hills, intervals, repeats in his program ?? :shifty:

Wondering what Disney will come up with next ??

Perhaps, offering a 10K event on Friday, and thus making it possible to do the 5K, 10K, 1/2 and Full Marathon .. and, calling it "The Dumbo" perhaps ??

Would you sign up for this ?? :shifty:

fyi .. http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2010/06/marathon-monday-newest-twist-for-disney-marathon/

Marathon Monday’ Newest Twist for Disney Marathon « Disney Parks Blog

Anyone who runs 26.2 miles deserves something in return, right? I mean, besides a lot of aching muscles. Well, we think we’ve come up with the perfect reward for marathon runners.

If you run the Walt Disney World Marathon next year, you’ll get a day at Walt Disney World on the house. Yep, runners who collect their finisher medals from the marathon on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, can bring them back to Disney the next day and gain entrance at no charge into a Walt Disney World theme park on “Marathon Monday.’’

Marathon runners and fans can also have a say in what that Disney Marathon finisher medal looks like. Just go to www.disneyworldmarathon.com and vote for the medal you think Disney should award runners at next year’s Disney Marathon. Voting runs now through July 28 with the winning medal announced in early August.

Hey, if you sign up and vote now, you’ll still have plenty of time to train for the race. On your marks…get set…go!
