I got up at 5:00 to go for a long run this morning, 25-30km, but a thunderstorm started as I was about to head out the door. I will have to get in a run later in the day, not sure how much I will be able to get in.

Very overcast here. Forecast is for thunder showers. Hopefully it will hold off until my 32 k is finished.

Cheers

Did a short 5K before the storms headed in. With high humidity I once again found my legs really really sore and achy. Every joint hurts with every step. Had planned a LSR but no way I could take a couple hours like that (plus the storms are moving in)

This has happened for most of the summer in the humidity getting worse as the summer continues. Tried to blame it on shoes, life, tired etc. but from what I can see it is the blasted weather. Give us a low humidity day back to back with a humid one and I run fast and easy. So I looked up on line and discovered ...

"Our joints have receptors that can sense pressure changes and achy joints may be directly associated with those changes. Excessive humidity can cause the veins in our legs to enlarge, resulting in increased achiness and pain."

wonder if compression socks would help ... have to research some more and see what I can do. Otherwise just have to pray this weather changes! :| In the long scheme of things though today's shorter run won't ruin the master plan so I will simply forge ahead to better things! This will NOT defeat me!

14K or so done. Garmin died on me so I have no idea how far or how long. But I followed about the same route as last week's 14K.

Unfortunately I have been having nerve pain in my left leg again and today while it wasn't painful the proprioception issue there is quite pronounced again. As my mileage creeps up again, I might just have to come to grips with the fact that racing anything over ~10 miles isn't in the cards any more...

I've got 2 ultimate games tonight, so no run for me today. I'll get in enough then.

Thunderstorms and heavy rain here. It won't stop! I feel bad for JF who was supposed to run his second 32K distance this morning. He was supposed to leave at 8am but he's still waiting, hoping the rain will stop. :(

I was supposed to go for a 30-35K bike ride this morning, but I think I'll make it a pool swim instead.

No rain here-- gorgeous and sunny like halifax.

I'm up early so will head out soon for 29K to beat the heat.

Hope the T-storms stop soon in Ontario for all you guys trying to get long runs in... with T-storms I'd stay in but don't let the rain itself stop you.

Terri- sorry about your leg. :( But even if you can do up to 90 minutes or so, that's great. Hope you can figure it out.

Yes, another round of humid weather in the GTA - no rain or t-storms yet but who knows what it will be like later today, which is when I'm planning to run? FWIW, Environment Canada says a cooler and less humid air mass is on its way in, so here's hoping it brings some relief. I'm glad this is a cutback week and my schedule only calls for 10 miles.

Terri - sorry to hear about the leg :(

No rain in sight here but it is crazy humid.

Sorry to hear about your leg pain Terri.

Rest day for me.

Back from vacation last night, we were in Maine and then Tremblant. We raced the first edition of the Mont-Tremblant "half" which was suppose to be 23 km, then then shorten it to 21.5 km and itended up being 22.5 km....

anyway, grueling hills and hot weather. This is not my PW but I felt the worse and I finished last out of of 99 participants... fun... anyway. Time to forget about this one and move on...

I was up early enough to get my 32K in. Skies are grey, and it's humid, so I'm glad I got it in, because I think some rain is on the way!

32K in 3:13:30 - Last 5K was a bit of a fast finish!

Go Cheryl!

I agree on the HOT today... I'm stressed because we're heading out for about 4 hours on trails, starting at only about 9:30. I fear it will get ugly. I'm hoping the tree cover will help. And ice in my pack.

If I survive, and my friend makes it back from the US in time, I think we're going to see Inception this evening.

Have you thought of trying chiro?

I had a lot of nerve pain in my left leg. My quad was also seizing on me. It turns out that I had a nerve impingement and my chiro has been able to get the leg pain/seizing to stop. Before this I had done physio and massage without much luck.

I do have functional scoliosis (had it since I was a teen, but no one told me it was treatable) and that has been improving as well through the course of my treatment.

Just short of 20kms LSD this morning, with the Feels Like at 32C it is definitely the most humid run so far this summer, (and my slowest).

Never felt like quitting so that was a plus, and my DH had me crackin' up at the end. We ran the same route, he was much faster, as always and finished about 40 minutes ahead of me, there he was sitting in a lawn chair he had taken out of the car and put on the running path...

With 9 weeks done and 9 to go ('til Goodlife) I'm going to need a strong run soon, not feeling so confident about my training these days.

I may not be making it to ultimate. My team is very non-communicative. It LOOKS like there are only 3 girls (including me) and 4 guys going to the first game, and 2 of us need rides. So far, I've found a ride there with a friend, but no ride home after the last game. I can't even find a ride back to Halifax to take the bus home. I'm about 95% positive that someone will give me a lift to Halifax after the game as I expect that there are a few who are going who just don't reply to the emails. But, I'm tempted to just email that I can't go. It'd be about a $40 cab ride home, I'm guessing. If the team has to forfeit this game, they have to forfeit. So, if I don't go, I'll take a rest day before my new training plan starts tomorrow.

Yep. In fact it was probably my first chiropractor that made it worse. My most recent one was great and most helpful. I've definitely got some of it coming from my hip (due to a very long standing SI joint dysfunction) and some coming from my lower leg (due to a hypermobile fibula).
