turning 42.2?!

Postby Irongirl » Mon Sep 13, 2010 10:44 am

Ha!

This was in the Zone3 newsletter....

Mark Sutcliffe is turning 42.2 years old on Saturday, Sept 25th. He is inviting people to
join him for some or all of the morning as he runs 42.2km back and forth along the
Rideau Canal between Dows Lake and Lewis St.

More details to follow, but start time will be around 8 AM. You can join in from either end
of his route at any point within the run. Goal pace has yet to be determined.

What did YOU do for your 42.2nd birthday? ;)
i run for me.

My 42.2 birthday fell on my sister's 33rd BD. I was training for IMC that year, so likely I did something active (though being a Monday, it was likely a rest day). Quick, someone find the daily thread from February 20, 2006...

ETA: Apparently, I didn't take a rest day...
Dragged my a$$ out bed to go to the gym this morning. Did 30 minutes on the elliptical (in my new skirt - review to follow in the Gearing Up section) then some pushups & hamstring curls (all I had time for this morning).

Jwolf, I counted 42 years and 73 days.

Are people talking about 42 yrs + 2 months or 42 yrs + 73 days?

That's what I would say too- but I've heard weird things in the US childcare industry where they say 2.9 years when they mean 2 yrs 9 months.

So when I turned 42.2 I was in the middle of marathon training and ran a 14.2k tempo run. :)

Don't think I was running much back then. It was a Friday night so odds are my wife and I were enjoying a couple of quiet drinks together.

You expect me to remember that far back  :?

Hmmm...year...1995...I had recently done a career change. I was probably drinking a single malt scotch and celebrating the fact that I wasn't just finishing up working 16 hour days during tax season at a major CA firm. :D :D

Wow, that's a few years back at this point. I'm fairly certain I wasn't even running then, in fact, I do believe I would have been recovering from a broken ankle at the time.
That broken ankle truly a turning point in my life though.

That would have been around Dec 14, 2004. I have no idea what I ran that day, but it was probably something.

I was camping on the Bruce Peninsula, again. 11 years and 30 pounds ago. Fashion sense already developed even at that young age. Bud got sprayed by a skunk that trip, the only time in his life! (thank goodness for the time stamp on digital pictures!)

for my 26.2 I was still just running 30-40 minutes at a time on the treadmill... didn't track it back then because I wasn't a runner!

42.2

That was 4.8 years prior to when I took up running, so I can say I did NOT run. Probably was at the curling rink that evening. Other than that ... looking into a new job.

26.2: February 20, 1990. I have no clue what I would have been doing (was working as a supervisor at Canada Trust), but I know for a fact that it likely would have involved cigarettes, alcohol and food. I didn't even know what running WAS in 1990! It was something people did in the Olympics.
