Down to the Ottawa river, up 'Monster Hill' behind the parliament, past the Supreme Court of Canada, back along the river to the canal down to Pretoria bridge and back to Confederation Park. Drizzly but nice for running. Just under 8.5km in total

:D That route sounds familiar!
As I explained to Andy, take Monster Hill, multiply distance times 3 (at least) and increase the incline and you have the hill at Melissa's! :o

Montreal 1/2 - April 29

I decided to run more TM intervals today...at a harder overall average than on Tuesday:

10 min warm-up at 6.7 mph, followed by 2 minute intervals of 8.2 mph/8.6 mph/9.0 mph/9.0 mph/9.0 mph, with 2 minute recoveries at 6.7 mph, except after the last interval, which was 5 min at 6.7 mph, and a 2 minute walking cool-down. 35 minutes total, 6.65 km (5:16/km).

A bit late reporting today's run as I was out looking for a number of missing butts.

As my next marathon is dramically downhill I was out running hills. I use a nice little 1.3 km hill. My average pace uphill was 6:45 min/km and my average pace downhill was 5:22 min/km. I did three repeats. I also ran down a longer, less steep decline to get to the hill. Average pace as a warmup was 5:58.

The race on October 30 has elevation stats as follows:

Max Elevation: 3998 feet
Min Elevation: 1099 feet
Total Ascent: 285 feet
Total Descent: 2946 feet.

Most of the ascent is in the first 10 km on gently rolling terrain. After that it is all downhill with the exception of one small ascent at about the 30 km mark

This should be an interesting event for sure. :)

Not the best run of all time - legs felt like lead - must be from the race this weekend and the bazillion lunges and squats I did last night. Run done.

I run because it's my passion, and not just a sport. Every time I walk out the door, I know why I'm going where I'm going and I'm already focused on that special place where I find my peace and solitude. Running, to me, is more than just a physical exercise...it's a consistent reward for victory!

it's raining like crazy out there again and it's only going to get worse. 50-80mm is being called for. Also, 2:45 to get into work today, 2 accidents and Trans Canada Eastbound shut down. Looks like the 16k I need to do tomorrow may be being done in poor conditions. That would be 3 runs in the rain this week! Ugghhh, I hope this is not a sign of things to come in Niagara...
Good news, I can't feel my nail anymore on my big toe. That is improvement of having it hurting me

A rest day for me, and it's just as well with the pouring rain we've had. Spent the time building an ark.

well that was a slog. I set out for 20 miles and barely got 15... and those 15 were slow and painful. No idea why... just wasn't there today. I guess I'll keep it light until the race now. :)

Oh, do let me know if you find mine!

Pool running done, and kept my Ipod Shuffle dry. Swam laps for another 30 minutes, then took an Aquafit class.

Goodness, I'm REALLY hoping I can start running on the treadmill at the very least by next week. It's too time consuming to need to workout for 2.5 hours in the pool just to feel like I got a decent cardio session in. Not to mention having to drive 20min to get to the pool in the first place!

I won't be sorry not to run outside in this rain though!

This week has been such an exercise write-off.

Sunday: Walked around and traveled home.
Monday: went out for a drink and a bite after work.
Tuesday: ultimate, pub, and tea at my place
Wednesday: out for a drink and a bite after work.
Today: ALMOST went for a run, but instead, my friend and tossed around the idea of a run and instead he's just going to come for dinner.

Frankly, I don't really care, and am kind of saying #@%-you to this week!
Maybe tomorrow?

I'm still debating whether or not to kayak 22kms and camp on the weekend.

6km in 35:38 on our "hilly" Sussex route.

I managed to make it up the 1200 m hill without stopping - I've been popping Zinc & Echinacea all last night to fend off a sore throat but was feeling some effects in my lungs - not too bad though.

One more 14 - 16 ish effort on Saturday and then its time to start taking this taper thing serious and start taking it slower and easier until 10-10-10

Well, you might get your wish... I just spent the evening making dinner and eating and drinking with my friend, so I've done no camping prep. And I'm still wary of kayaking THAT much with a group when I only know one member. I know he'll take care of me and all, but ... Hm. I don't know. I'm annoying myself by being lazy about this, but I think I might be lazy about this.
