famour runners names under avatar?

Postby jamix » Wed Dec 01, 2010 12:48 am

I've noticed everyone has a name of some famous runner under they're photo or user name. Mine used to say "Prefontaine", but now says "Bailey". Other users have different famous names written. Are these names randomly assigned? What is they're significance?

Thanks a bunch. Do you know exactly what the relationship is between post # and the corresponding name? Which runners name corresponds to the highest post count?

if you click on Members on the gray bar at the top of the page and then click on Posts twice to sort by post numbers in descending order you can probably figure it out pretty easily.

Ah okay. I see Gebrselassie is the highest. Bekele is second highest. If it were me I would probably put Bekele for highest posts.

For "Johnson", do think this is referring to Ben Johnson or Michael Johnson  ?! Don't answer that.

you must have missed a page. Kogo and ahem, Tadese are both higher than Bekele.

and yeah, safe bet the Johnson belongs to Michael.

It isn't an arbitrary ranking. It correlates with world records:

As you have been posting a lot about speed and short stuff, so the RM Forum automatically classified you, as such, perhaps ... :shifty:

Of the names listed, I have heard of 6. So the name doesn't mean much to me. After (roughly) 38,000 more posts, I might know who I am. That sucks!

I know UQ got to be Ann Trasen and she deserves it.

Exactly! I think we discussed changing them after a certain period of time. But to be honest, I can't say that I know the names of any of the female world record holders at each distance. Other than Paula Radcliffe, I'd be hard pressed to name another!

Why not replace a few of the men with women? Or why world record holders, why not just famous runners?

When I was El Garrouj, I almost stopped posting.

Ok, I'm sure this was all hashed out by the moderator's. I ignore the name and look at the number anyway.

Yes, it should totally be famous triathletes; men and women, they're both equally awesome. ;)

Truthfully I never look at those post level names anyway. Why do we even have to have them? Its an often source of confusion for new members. :)

Well, maybe one or two. What was the name of the woman who won Hawaii in such grand style about 15 years ago? Julie? (I can't remember).

Julie Leach won in 1982 but you might be thinking of Julie Moss who was second. It was her struggle in the final few yards that when featured on Wide World of Sport really brought the Kona race to the US's attention.

Sure, very fast... for an Ultra runner running up a hill. No Hicham El Guerrouj, mind you
