Official maniac now?

Postby soulrunner » Thu Sep 22, 2011 12:01 am

I have been running 10 kms locally for a while now... last Saturday I ran a 10 km in the morning on my own, then a few hours later I ran a 5 km with my husband and still ran circles around him. All this energy made me wonder if I could do longer distances. So the other day I mapped out a half marathon in my local Cloverdale BC, and took to the roads tonight! I had been planning on around 2 hours, but forgot I had mapped in five hills, two of which are quite steep and long! I managed to run it without stopping, and it took me 2 hours 12 minutes.
Does this make me a maniac now? :D
I have burns on my skin from clothes rubbing raw, and a black toe nail to boot -- I am so proud of my war injuries! LOL My legs feel great, and am wearing long compression tights to help healing. I am sure I will feel it over the next few days, but I am definitely on a running high right now! :)
Advil will be my new best friend... lol

The minute you laced up your shoes to go for a run and made your first post you became a maniac.

That is irrevocable.

I kinda think we're all crazy...... :shifty: I mean, look at you, with the hip and the knee and now the ankle  , and yet what's your focus? To get back to running! Addicts, I tell ya.

I just finished filling in the assessment questionnaire for The Athletic Club, and one of the questions was "what stops you from exercising?" My answer was: "Injury!"

Ditto on both counts. I've got enough black or missing nails, I don't care to see any more!

Love it!!

Mostly because there's real truth to the 'addiction' angle.

OK, that's gross!

Not your run, soulrunner-- that's cool. :) Although it takes a lot less to be an "official" maniac. ;)

But... now officially.... welcome to the club!

Hope we get a chance to meet up at some point.

Let's just say that I took the 'necklace' part to mean that it was a piece of actual jewellery.....albeit with a macabre theme, made of pewter or some such. Alas, I was wrong.

You did notice it said TOENAIL necklace... not PEWTER necklace, didn't you? ;)

p.s. Soulrunner- you now must really be an official maniac, with your thread appropriately hijacked totally off the rails. :p
