I usually can not run the day after an ART session but today I had a great 4.5 KM speed session. 12C at 6:30AM ... slept with the windows open all night to cool the house down and had to put the summer sheets on the bed yesterday. I am not sure how I will cope when spring truly does arrive (return?) this weekend. Loving this weather! Full day ahead with board meetings, reports to write, and students to teach. Oh yeah, have to get ready for my very FIRST ever canine massage therapy client who arrives tomorrow morning :D

New things on the horizon!

Happy first day of spring - hope yours is happier then the robin on my yard - he is really pissed that he slept through spring and woke up in summer when he is just another bird in the yard and not that special first sign of warmer weather ahead!

6.5K on treadmill last night. 11K planned for tonight but I may cut it down and do a little bit of a taper before ATB. My legs are pretty tired but also sore from the renovation weekend as well. Decisions, decisions.

plan is to run home from the clinic this afternoon to get in my commute and my workout at the same time. if this doesn't prove too difficult to pull off i will try and do it for all my Tuesday runs because trying to get that run in on Friday (same day as weight training) is so not working for me.

Morning!

tae-box at lunchtime. It's going to be so nice outside that I almost want to run after work too. We'll see if I have energy left after my class.

Have a good day!

Ended up running this morning instead of with the group tonight so DH could stay a bit later at work. Plus, I need to remind myself to take it easy - and that's a lot harder when running with a group that isn't tapering! 6km with the stroller.

solid swim after work last night - 2250m done.

bunch of stuff on my mind and woke up at 3am and couldn't fall back asleep - also knew that the alarm was going off before 5 so I think that played a role too. Anyway - got up when it did go off and got my 75min spin workout done by 6:15am.

date with a treadmill for intervals after work.

next up - coffee.
Race Hard. Race Happy.

Easy 15K. Nothing says equinox quite like heading straight east at sunrise.

I want to write a letter to Edmonton weather:
"Dear weather,
All my Ontario friends are laughing at me, and posting pictures of 20C-25C weather. Can we has some warm pls?
Kthxbai,
JoaniB"

In any case, it's supposed to be a balmy 4C or 8C this afternoon, depending on which service I ask, so I'm gonna jump out there and kick off 30 or so minutes of run!

Edited to add: I was feeling worse and worse through-out the day, so I decided to take the common sense route for once and not run. :(

6km with 5 hills was on the agenda for today - got it done, but the first 2 hills (a "proper" length/grade for hill repeats) really took it out of me, so I moved over to a slightly gentler area for the rest. I can't complain about this warm weather, but I'm certainly not acclimatized to it for a tough run yet!

So now winter is officially over, and I wonder how long it will keep its position in the record books as warmest, least snow, etc. Although I keep reminding myself that we could still get a blast of bad weather...there are many years that I've seen a bit of snow in April (although never any snow that lasted).

Nice 15 km this morning. At the beginning it was a bit eerie running in the dark and fog, but also kind of cool. There was so much moisture in the air today that it was literally condensing onto me, plus even though it was only 10 C and I didn't feel that I was sweating very much, I'm sure whatever sweat was happening was not really evaporating. Probably should have been in shorts instead of capris.

I'm not sure what my running will look like for the rest of the week. Tomorrow night is Runpub, but of course work is crazy and I can't count on getting there. So normally I would run in the morning and then potentially do a double if I don't get stuck at work. But with ATB this weekend, I want to back off just a little. So I will probably not run tomorrow morning, and cross my fingers that I do run in the evening. If not, guess I'll do 10 km or so on Thursday morning, something shorter than usual on Friday morning, and call it good until Sunday. This isn't supposed to be a race, more a hard training run, so no formal taper or anything.

Rest day here, and glad the weather is a bit better this week for the kids' school spring break!
Just hope it lasts, but thinking it won't...... rain doesn't usually get to me (I am considered a true west coast girl), but when I am stuck inside with five crazy kids, it can be a little tiresome!

Killer cardio/boxing class last night, my butt hurts - it is awesome! Have felt like I am fighting something last couple of days and today it seems to be settling in. A bit feverish and my blood sugars are all over the placed. Rest day for me I guess. Hope a good nights rest will get me back at it for a good run tomorrow :)
