Sunny Vermont Sunday Thread!!

Postby Ken B » Sun May 20, 2012 5:09 am

I don't get to start the daily thread often so I grabbed the opportunity this morning.

I am up bright and early for my Shires Vermont Marathon in Bennington Vermont. It starts at 9:00 AM and will be sunny and hot. so slow, ultra type run/walk is on the books.

Have a good day, yáll!

Bluenose Marathon day in my neck of the woods, but I'm not racing. I'm leading my pace group to a 10k race pace run this morning.

We just finished up the Alert Relay for Life. 22km total for myself (walking). Some walkers hit 40 km  - I couldn't stay up that long, so I was there for the first three hours and the last three hours.

A very successful event - we raised over $8000.00!!!!

Way to go Eme!!

Gorgeous Ottawa day here. Going up to the cottage for the day and hoping to get lots of R&R in. To everyone who is running today, have fun!

Easy paced 12k this morning before it got *too* hot. Got to run past the pyrotechnicians setting up for the big fireworks display at Ashbridge's Bay tomorrow night, which was kind of cool. Also got a lot of gnats in my eyes/mouth/stuck in my sunscreen, which was less cool.
PR's so far: 5K 27:15, 10K 55:25, 21.1K 2:10:53, 42.2K 5:21:27
Upcoming: Toronto Women's 5k in May, STWM Half in October

My group was one person other than myself! Our goal pace was 7:05, and our average was 7:06, so I am ok with that!

I found out at brunch that our Commanding Officer did a total of 63 km over the twelve hours  He did some running early on outside and then switch to walking inside, but wow. He is a little stiff and sore today

Nice 11K run on local trails this morning. That was my first hot run of the year- thoroughly enjoyed working up a good sweat!
Keep on rolling, just a mile to go. Keep on rolling my old buddy, you're moving much too slow.

Did a short run yesterday. My foot has healed miraculously but still acts up with things like yard work. I think it is the crouching / flexing of the foot. Doesn't like a lot of hills either. So yesterday, post 2 days of yard work, it was a tad sore. I kept yesterday to a short 4K tempo and am taking today off. Watered the garden and moved my cactus and shamrock outside for the summer. Now going to bath the dogs, let them air dry, and just enjoy the day! Lovin' this weather but also glad it is happening this weekend and not next weekend for ORW!

Busy day yesterday and we were out in the evening so didn't spend any time on-line. Part of being busy yesterday was my weekend long run - 25 km in total, although broken up in sections of about 6 km, 11 km and 8 km. The first 6 km were kind of unpleasant and weird - couldn't seem to find a pace that felt good (fast or slow), vaguely stiff but couldn't identify any individual muscles that were "off", etc. It got dramatically better when I met up with my friend for 11 km, and then I had a good run home (the last 8 km).

Yard work yesterday, being followed by errands and housework/laundry today, and finishing the yard work after the housework (when it's a bit cooler). We don't really need AC yet, but one of the little chores yesterday was to take off the outdoor cover and make sure the unit hadn't been infiltrated by mice over the winter (happened a couple of years ago). Fortunately no visitors, and we have the AC on today just to test it out, and it appears to be fine. There was another year where something went wrong with the internal electronics over the winter, so I take nothing for granted ;)

Have a great long weekend everyone! Hoping to get all the jobs done today so tomorrow can be a true day off.
Jacqueline
