Suddenly Saturday

Postby Sustain26 » Sat Jun 09, 2012 7:04 am

Hello!
Perfect weather in Mtl., found my pavement legs (normally do trail as much as possible) - Cote St Catherine, Park, Sherbrooke, St Laurent, Jean Talon = some critical water fountains, and back home. 17.7 km in about two hours.

If anyone is going to
http://www.ultimatexc.com/registration.html

".. registrations will close two weeks before the race, that means, Friday June 15 at Midnight..

in St Donat, June 30, and would like to team up on transport and such, please let me know.
During any successful session, one might and should have a moment of truth, "should I continue or just walk home?". If you don't break down, the same thing might happen a few hundred steps later, but you already dealt with that issue. This usually happens in the second half, anyways. The satisfaction one derives later, when at home, is extremely gratifying, and is a build up like no other to further efforts.

Went out for a short run to survey the tornado damage. I ran 1K for each tree uprooted in the cemetery. Total 6 trees and 6K. Not sure if it was a tornado or a microburst but amazing to see the row of trees all uprooted but not a single tombstone damaged! Going through the city you see a path of leaves / branches (including my house, I have a lot of yard sweeping and branch cleaning up to do today) and then right next to them nothing. It is like a 6- 10 foot path of damage. Made for an interesting run. Goal today was just short and easy so that's what I did.

Wow Celeigh! I saw nothing so interesting on my jog through the cemetery this morning.

12K @6m/k pace. Really nice, but it was humid out this morning!

Good luck all! May your feet be speedy and your hearts mighty!

I have change of command today, so I am at work. The good news is I found my "skinny" pants that I ordered months ago (they are the men's pants, flat front, no pleats. I hate pleats), I don't have to wear the crazy, too-big, make me look like a blue balloon pants.

Hopefully CrossFit later

Weird calf injury has me hobbling around on my first day of vacation :( but sun is shining and I think I will hobble around the garden and the pool. Sadly I think running will be sidelined for a few days but I brt I can cycle maybe and for sure ride a horse! :)

Just home from my 10k "do-over" race. PB'd by 3 minutes, and came in dead last. How often does that happen?

Slow 12K this morning. Played most of the game last night and felt like i was in the game for the first time. But it took a toll on my legs for this morning. Goal was 12K so I went out for 6 and staggered back the last 3K.

A run with the girls! We did just over 10 km which is my longest since the marathon. Great company, but the run made me wonder how I ran four times further two weeks ago?

After the run, on my way to meet the family for music class, I stopped into Tim's to get a bagel. Someone backed RIGHT into my car, and put a big dent in the bumper - I was so unimpressed! And then I had no time to get a bagel either, since I was dealing with them. Grrrr.

  Had a bit of a sleepless night for some reason ... Such the case, ended up completing 4 legs of the Ottawa Relay For Life 2012 Edition, with an awesome bunch of Maniacs for a total of 36K .... 8)

Being all hopped up on sugar, carbs and endorphin rush, suprisingly (well, not really) was still unable to sleep this morning after returning home, but perhaps a 1-2 hour nap ... then, decided to make the early morning matinee of Promethius ... :shifty:

Damn Scrummy. Hopefully just a new bumper is all that needs replacing. Somebody smashed my window last Wednesday while out on my run and the hack that replaced my window must have been using a hole punch inside of the door making a small dent and chipping the paint at the bottom of the door. I took a picture of my car before I took it to their shop so I know they did it. I digress...

I did my long run today around Smallville for 20k. Nice to get in a bit of hills for a change instead of running along the flat seawall. not really

Busy day today, but after all our stuff was done, I had Mrs McD drop me off 20km from home and I ran the rest of the way. Felt great- felt like I could have gone so much faster, but I cruised along nicely about 30 secs/km slower than MP.
Keep on rolling, just a mile to go. Keep on rolling my old buddy, you're moving much too slow.

Got out late to do 12.3kms at an average 5:20/km. Surprised it went so well as I haven't been feeling so great the last couple of days. Maybe it was all in the mind!

Great 17km run this morning exploring Vancouver richie - rich neighbourhood of Shaughnessy - beautiful, quiet, tree-lined streets - made me wonder why they all settled so far from the water when the neighbourhood was established. Quite a hilly route for us poor downhill runners from Burnaby .... there was some definite grumbling behind me. My ears were burning on occasion.

Our Dragon Boat practice was peppered with a few good samaritan events - helped out in a successful search for a wayward 5 year old boy before we headed out on the water and then did a mid creek intervention with a dog who got away from his owner and decided he was a retriever (he so-o-o was not). He swam several hundred yards out into False Creek chasing a Canada Goose, totally ignoring his owner frantically trying to call him back to shore. We were able to manouvre the boat between him and the goose and got him turned around and swimming back to shore :D We usually manage at least one rescue per year but it is usually volleyballs from the volleyball tournament .... or we standby to assist capsized outrigger canoe-ers. However, even with all that good karma, I still didn't win the lottery :(
