Racing SATURDAY

Postby Habs4ever » Sat Jul 14, 2012 6:00 am

I'm up early to drive 1.75 hours to race (hopefully) for under 2 hours, then drive back 1.75 hours.
(-| I'm tired.

Have a great day Maniacs. :D

Up early to try to get my run in before temperatures hit the melting point. It was 20C at 5:15AM and that was without humidex! Had a lovely coughing fit thanks to my cold just before heading out. Coughed till tears ran down my face and I thought I'd throw up. Grabbed a jar of honey and ate it by the spoonful to stop the coughing (it worked). Headed out anyway. Stayed close to home for the first 3K and was ok so headed out to the country roads. At 7K heard a noise and looked over my shoulder to see a hot air balloon. It is "Lift Off' balloon festival in the city and from KM's 7 - 11 I had hot air balloons drifting overhead or on the horizon the whole time. Add in the country roads and no one else around and it made for a nice run and a great distraction from the heat. Lovely head wind for the final 6K of the run. Total just over 16K. Glad to be done! It's hot out there! It was 24C with 80% humidity by the time I got home. Hope to go see the dock dogs competition later this morning!

Good Luck Habs!

Today I got out early to beat the heat. Plan was for 12-16K at a moderate pace. It was already warm at 7am but I managed a peppy 16K in 5:49 m/k pace. Super happy with that considering the heat! I carried a bottle with me for a while, but stashed it and did some loops of the cemetery, so I made a couple of quick water stops.

Out for lunch with some friends!

Have a great day!

Got out for 22K this morning- down and around Presqu'ile Park, with a good chunk of it on trails. It's getting pretty hot out there already!

I feel like a heat wuss. Didn't run yesterday and barely slept last night (again) so we weren't able to get up early... will have to figure out how to run in this crazy heat wave!!

An hour on the bike. It was too hot out to go any longer. No run as I'm resting the foot today.

An hour on the bike and then coffee with my running group. At the end, my right calf completely cramped up making a left hand turn on a green filter in busy traffic.....
