TGIF. Waking up this morning, it felt more like Tuesday. But as soon as I put my jeans on, it felt more like Friday. :)

Dentist appointment this afternoon, then I'll go to the gym for a run on the TM. Going to be crazy windy here in TO today, so I'm taking it inside.

TGIF indeed. It's been a rough week emotionally for me and I am really glad it's done.

Day 3 of Week 1 re-re-re-re-starting running is in the books. Ankle is a bit hooped. Hopefully I will remember to do some mobility exercises this weekend, and it will decide to cooperate and loosen up by Monday.

Have a good weekend ya'll.

Love two day weeks!

7 km for me this morning - outside. I thought of all those runners who braved the crazy cold yesterday, and decided that today's practically balmy -13 was not stopping me. Footing was a bit iffy with new snow, but it was so nice to be outside!

Easy 4 km outside. -6C/-12WC. Plows had cleared all the sidewalks, which made for good running in most places.
Plan for 2016:
Jun 25: St. Malo Triathlon - Sprint - done
Jul 16: Morden Triathlon - Sprint - done

Usually a rest day, but I took Tuesday off.

30 min on the elliptical, plus 15 min on the stationary bike for cardio, followed by some stretching and strength!

TGIF indeed

Yay Friday!! I could get used to working two days a week. Doing my 10.8km run lunch route today, looking forward to it as it feels so warm outside!

Have a wonderful day.

I run because it's my passion, and not just a sport. Every time I walk out the door, I know why I'm going where I'm going and I'm already focused on that special place where I find my peace and solitude. Running, to me, is more than just a physical exercise...it's a consistent reward for victory!

Kicking myself for not getting my run in first thing, because now I'm sitting around waiting for a repair person and it's taking longer than expected... going to try to squeeze in 5k at some point, hopefully.

Good morning, Maniacs, and Happy New Year! It's good to be posting in the daily thread for the first time since December :)

It has not been a great couple of weeks for running. DH and I went up to Ottawa for Christmas, and I did run Christmas morning on the hotel TM (almost 8 miles, IIRC). Then we were busy with family, and travelling back to Toronto, and I didn't run or really do any exercise (aside from some stretch/strength stuff) until the following Sunday, which was a nice 22 km outside on a snow covered (but sunny) day. I had been feeling "blah" since shortly after Christmas, nothing serious, just sniffly with a scratchy throat, and low energy. So was mostly taking it easy and taking advantage of the days off work to rest up. Then late New Year's Eve and through New Year's Day, all of a sudden I felt like I'd been hit by a truck. Serious congestion, coughing up a lung, achey, headachey, fatigued... Don't know whether it was a cold or a mild flu, but it completely knocked me back. I was supposed to go back to work on Wednesday and ended up calling in sick. What a great way to start the year... Anyway, still not 100%, but a lot better. Even made it to the gym today. My original plan was to do an easy run on the TM, but that got dumped in favour of 50 minutes on the elliptical. I didn't sleep well, woke up with a continuing mild headache, and it just seemed like a better idea. Cardio without the pounding.

Have a great weekend, everyone :)

Heading out for 8 easy (and chilly) miles in my new running gear from MEC! I love it - warm & comfy/fits perfectly. I ordered in on Tuesday and it came today. I assumed it would come from Vancouver but was sent from Halifax (free shipping too). That's great service - very pleased :).
We train more joyfully and productively when we focus on the now, rather than on our future race day performance. It's a long road from here to there with many miles to go. We need to run each one. Accept where you are today and simply be thankful for the work you've accomplished. KA

Great run this afternoon- almost 14km through Riverdale and Cabbagetown and back across the Viaduct. It was nice to run somewhere different, and it's a route that I wouldn't normally do mid-week because it gets dark so soon after I'm done work. Not that they are terrible neighbourhoods (although I do pick it up through St Jamestown), but I don't like running on quiet side streets in the dark.
