Family Day? What's That? Monday....

Postby RA. » Mon Feb 18, 2013 8:23 am

No Family Day in NS, so up and walked to catch the bus at 6:20 to get to the gym before work. 5 minutes on the treadmill, but it was acting funny, so I switched to the cross trainer as the other treadmills were busy. Then strength work.

Enjoy the day off for those who have it!

Have a great day today with C!

No day off for me either, but that's OK! I had a busy busy weekend and I am looking forward to taking it easy today. :D

10K this morning at an easy pace.

Rest day, running-wise. Louis Riel Day here, but still had to go to work: federal employees don't get the holiday. Icing on the cake: blowing snow alert today, making driving a lot of fun. Work parking lot was blown in, only on our side of course. Had to park nearby &pay for it. Downtown coffee places &food courts all closed for holiday as well. Half my team was smarter than I was, and decided to work from home. One saving grace is that we're ordering in pizza for lunch.

Isn't Easter Monday already a holiday? I guess not in Ontario.

We had ours last week. Oh well, I could use another holiday.

I have my coached swim group in the evening- will report back later.

Rest day, and to answer Jwolf, Easter Monday is a bank holiday, so Government and well banks. Easter Friday we get off as a statutory.

Most in industry don't get it off, I'm working this Family day and taking Easter Monday in lieu, my wife is Federal Gov who haven't gotten Family day as part of their collective agreement, so rather than sit home and do nothing by myself, we'll enjoy a 4 day weekend the end of March where we are both off. That and I work with mostly Americans who are actually celebrating presidents day so looks like I'm working alone as well :)

Morning!

Wow. It's amazing what a good sleep and good nutrition the day before will have on a run.

I was going to use the treadmill because I was kinda getting tired of bundling up, but after taking the dog out to scope out conditions, I decided it was simply too nice not to go head outdoors. So glad I did. Sunny and about -14 to begin, I finished the run at about -5!

16K in 1:31:51 (5:44 pace) I haven't run one like that in a LONG time. It felt pretty relaxed most of the time!

Hitting the pool very soon for and plan on another 2,750m - may stretch it to 3,000m if things are going well :) then home to clean and dinner at The Keg. Have a great day maniacs!

Easter Monday is not a statutory holiday in most provinces. Good Friday is a stat nationwide.

Banks are open on Easter Monday, closed on Good Friday. At least here in Ontario.

I did my skipped long run from yesterday today. 11K in the gorgeous sunshine! I was over-dressed.

A really easy 5K on the TM for me today. Gosh it's nice to say that about a 5K. I remember the days when it was a struggle just to get through one. Persistence pays off!

My last longish run before the hypothermic half next weekend. It is truly ugly here, cold and blowing like Antarctica. I have a tickly throat, I hope it isn't something brewing.
