Windblown Wednesday

Hills for me this evening. I don't want to attempt speed work in this wind.

ETA: and there's a very light dusting of snow on the sidewalks, which becomes very slippery over top of the invisible ice underneath. Be careful out there!

Not sure what I'm up to today yet... but, it will be fun I'm sure :D
When your legs get tired, run with your heart.

Overcome the notion that you must be regular. It robs you of your chance to be extraordinary.

I chose yoga this morning. My legs (especially calves) were really sore/tight last night, and I woke up in the middle of the night with a cramp in my arch that I had to get up and walk off, so figured stretching was best.

Good morning! Yes, windy in the GTA this morning, and lots of icy patches. Today should be Runpub for me but given what's going on at work these days, I have a hard time imagining that I could get out of here in time, so I've simply planned to miss it. This morning was 30 minutes on the elliptical followed by upper body weights and ab/glute work. And my plan for this evening is to go to the gym after work and run on the TM, probably starting a half hour or so later than the Runpub time. I had originally planned to run this morning, but worked late last night and ate dinner late. My bad - stomach was in no shape for a run this morning. Ok, that's the plan, let's see what the day brings.

In other news, my left leg is still weird. It felt fine by Friday, was really sore after my 24 km run on Saturday, felt ok again by Monday morning and pretty good after my 14 km run, and feels ok now. Not sure what's going on. The good news is that it's not getting worse; the bad news is that it's not quite going away. Just take each day as it comes... Leaving at least a day in between runs seems to help, and so does (sparing use of) Voltaren.

Heading out at lunch for just under 11km and then have a strength/tabbatta session this evening.

Have a good one!

I run because it's my passion, and not just a sport. Every time I walk out the door, I know why I'm going where I'm going and I'm already focused on that special place where I find my peace and solitude. Running, to me, is more than just a physical exercise...it's a consistent reward for victory!

I did! First loop was tough going - really windy, so there were basically no tracks, and I was being blown all over the place. I almost called it a night, but I saw the groomer heading out, so I followed him for a second loop. It was awesome! (though still windy). Really glad I stuck with it.

I had planned to run to ultimate tonight, but then it was pouring rain and I didn't feel like dealing with the logistics of getting there totally drenched and full changes of clothes and all, so I took transit.

And I'm so glad I did! I arrived the same time as a friend of mine, and we noticed that there were more people OFF the "field" than on it. One game of 5-on-5, and 15 people hanging around the sidelines. So, we got the organizer to set up 2 games of 4-on-4 instead, which resulted in a LOT of hard running for everyone. Out of the 65 or so minutes we were there, I was on for about 55. Felt like a good workout tonight and I expect I'll be feeling it tomorrow!
