I'm considering the Dopey. I love Disney race weekend! I would like to take a day or two away from my family vacation to run but we usually stay at the campground.
Anyone know if there are buses from the the campground to the start line? The site talks about all the resorts having shuttles but I've never seen any mention of the campground.

Do they have regular shuttle / bus service from the campground to the Parks / Downtown Disney ? If yes, I would assume so, though, best to just send them an email to confirm ... It is an early start time, so if you could drive yourself there and park at Epcot, other than the marathon, you would likely be back before the family wakes up .... :shifty:   :shifty:

They have the boat that runs from the docks to the parks and buses that will take you to downtown Disney and other parks. I haven't read about it anywhere in the runners info booklet that they give you either. It's hard to figure out if they consider the campground a Disney 'resort'
I did shoot them an email just didn't know if anyone knew off the top of their head.
Thanks

Just park your motorhome at the Epcot Parking lot ... there are so many vehicles there, betcha they wouldn't know the difference ...   :shifty:

eta: whereabouts, is the campground located? Again, how do you get to the Parks usually?

Campground is right on Lake Buena Vista.
To get to Magic Kingdom we take the boat over. To get to any other park or resorts, we take the internal bus to the depot and get on another bus to your destination. The internal buses (and the boat) only run till a certain time.

eta: For those planning on the Dopey Challenge next year (or even the Goofy Challenge) ... if you also register for the 2014 Dumbo (Double Dare) Challenge in Disneyland on Labour Day weekend, 10K on Saturday and 1/2 on Sunday, you would also qualify to receive not, only the Dumbo Medal, but the Coast-to-Coast Challenge Medal, as well ... Yep, 6 races and 10 medals, if my math is correct .. though, you may be a bit lighter in the bank account, as a result ... :shifty:

Proof of Time
New 2014 runDisney proof of time guidelines:

If you believe you will finish the Half Marathon in less than 3:15 hours or the Marathon in less than 6:30 hours, proof of time is required for start corral placement. Goofy's Race and a Half Challenge and Dopey Challenge participants should adhere to Full Marathon proof of time requirements. Please reference the Race Pacing Chart below for finish times and associated pacing per mile.

AProof of time must be provided from a certified race reflecting results after January 1, 2012.

•Half Marathon - 10K or longer
•Full Marathon - 10 Miles or longer

A valid proof of time provided at the time of registration must include the following*:

•Name of Race
•Distance
•City
•State
•Date
•Finish time

*For example, Walt Disney World Marathon, 26.2, Orlando, FL, 1/13/13, - 3:35

If you do not have a proof of time to submit, list "N/A" at the point of registration. If proof of time is not provided by November 1, 2013 you will be placed in the last start corral. If your proof of time data is incomplete or cannot be verified, you will be placed in the last start corral. To provide or update your proof of time, you must email all proof of time data requested above to disneysports@trackshack.com. No corral changes will be made after November 1, 2013.

As a reminder, you will no longer be able to bring proof of your estimated finish time to the Runner Relations booth during the Expo and have your start corral placement changed.

Dates, times and prices subject to change. All races are subject to capacity limits and may close at any time.

Looks like I'm 90% in for the trip, just not sure which race(s) I'll do. This will be just over 3 months after I run my 50K trail race, so I'll have a decent base. I'm just not sure if I'll want to train for anything longer than a half. I've already got the Donald medal, so I'm kind of torn as to what to do. :?

They do not really have a set number, from what I can tell, but, it did not sell out last/this year ... having said that, I think the Dopey will likely sell out quicker, with a lot of Goofy alumnis, jumping to the Dopey ...

eta: 2015 is the 10th anniversary for Goofy, and if it was like the 5th anniversary, I suspect they will sell out quickly ... having said that, they double and even tripled the capacity for the 5th anniversary, if I recall ...

I guess it would sell out once one of the two/four races in the series sells out. The year I did it (2009), it was the half that sold out first.

Tell Rob to decide tonight. Disney just posted an alert saying 10K is 93% sold out, Dopey at 76%, and Runner World entries are sold out.

Just got Rob into the 10k! It will definitely be sold out by later tonight. Crazy, it hasn't been like this in ages. I guess people are pretty excited about the new races. Now to decide if Owen does the dash or the kids mile. Will let him decide a bit later.
