First 5K!

Postby Qster » Sun Jun 09, 2013 1:28 pm

My son and I ran our First ever 5K this morning.
I finished at 29 min. 14 sec, my son had a cramp and slowed down but he was still able to finish at 32 min. 24 sec.
I know these times are not great times as I saw a lot of people ahead of me, but I'm very proud for the both of us because we just started running only 2 months ago.
Breaking 30 min. is not so bad for a 47 years old who just ran for the first time this year.
By the way Couch to 5K program was great, thanks to all those who suggested to me.
:D

Thanks.
Some of my friends have expressed interest in joining me in running, they're all going to start now so that we can all run for another 5K in August. :D
There's going to be a bunch of first timers in their 50s crowding up the next run
I'm not going to run 10K yet until next year, I've got to take it a little easy as I'm not that young any more. :)

Congrats! There may have been lots of people in front of you, but I bet if you had turned around, you'd have seen just as many behind you. :)

Thanks Ken B. I'm very proud of my son, he was hanging on with that cramp to cross the finish line. He frequently has an abdominal cramp when running, he often needed to walk home half way through our morning jog. He doesn't eat before the morning run, he stretches more and he's been trying to breath deeply but it still happens frequently, we hope it's going to go away as he runs more.

Thanks ultraslacker. Yes there were a lot of people behind me as well, I think I was at about the middle of the pack. We had a great time and felt really good with our result.
