Tired Tuesday

Postby erinmcd » Tue Jul 02, 2013 7:18 am

Good morning all!

Intervals for me this morning- 12 x 400m, for a total of 13.5K with warm up and cool down. After yesterday's 5K race I had to push pretty hard- legs weren't feeling terribly fresh.
Keep on rolling, just a mile to go. Keep on rolling my old buddy, you're moving much too slow.

Sick and tired for me this morning; I'm getting over a gastro bug that I must have picked up at the race Saturday. :( At least it seems to be the 24-hour kind.

Parenting boot camp continues as we look after 2 huge dogs and 4 kittycats this week. The kitties have been angels, but this morning we got the 4:30 or 5am wakeup from one of the dogs who had pooped on the rug. I am SO thankful for Pat who just got right up and dealt with it. Funny but that grosses me out WAY more than diapers do! In any case, we are going out for a nice breakfast and then we'll see if a run happens later on. Possibly after the afternoon nap that will almost certainly happen!

Not too tired this Tuesday, although I would have loved another day off...

Had a sort-of lazy weekend. Saturday was gardening, yard work and housework. Sunday morning I had a plan to run up to 25 km, but my stomach was feeling rather "off" so I was hesitant. By the time it felt normal, it was too hot and sunny to got out for that long. So Sunday drifted into being a lazy day/rest day. Yesterday I got up and out early for a nice 17+ km under cloudy skies. Beautiful running weather! Then today was the first "official" speedwork/progression run of this training cycle. Only 5 miles total because there was a memorial at 8:00 a.m. for one of the long-time gym members who died last Sunday. There was a big turnout and a lot of smiles; I think she would have been pleased.

Good long weekend recovery vibes to everyone else who would rather not be back at work. :)

Going to head out at lunch for a run and it is going to be a hot one! I figure I need to get some running in the heat as it could be hot for races etc.

I run because it's my passion, and not just a sport. Every time I walk out the door, I know why I'm going where I'm going and I'm already focused on that special place where I find my peace and solitude. Running, to me, is more than just a physical exercise...it's a consistent reward for victory!

They have issued a humidex/heat warning for Edmonton with poor air quality. Lucky for me my brother, who i work with, has some guest passes for his gym down the road. Looks like it will be an indoor treadmill lunch run instead. I don't mind though, rather be safe than sorry!!

I got to yoga class at lunch. After 6 weeks off, I was surprised how much my muscles remembered! I expect I will be quite sore tomorrow, but the first yoga class after the break was much kinder to me than the first run yesterday.

I have an appointment with my hygienist this afternoon and then the plan is for 800s afterwards at my old stomping grounds. For whatever reason I always feel woozy after a cleaning so hopefully that feeling is gone by the time I start. This and the increased temperatures should make it interesting.
