If only you had some experience running races back to back.....

I'm registered for the half.

Toying with the full instead though.

Looks lIke I have some awesome bunnies this year. Registration is incredible. Only reason marathon is not sold out is that they increased the cap significantly.

Ottawa Marathon 92%
Ottawa Half-Marathon 100%
Ottawa 10K 100%
Ottawa 5K 70%
Ottawa 2K 56%
Ottawa Kids Marathon 11%

I think I'm going to take my chances and wait to buy a marathon bib if I decide to do it. :P

The next question is - do I want to subject the kids to a race?

I didn't get the email this year! I must be on the bad-bunny list.

Any idea what this new cap is? I couldn't find it with a quick Google search and I have an ongoing interest in seeing if a Canadian marathon ever takes a shot at 10,000.

I think it is 7,000. Usually it is around 4,500. 40th anniversary of the marathon so that may be the rationale

And I may be taking that chance as well. I haven't decided what to run/race this year and am hesitant to commit to this marathon. Even though I LOVE Ottawa race weekend.

I have a friend who is looking to buy a half marathon bib. She planned on registering and didn't realize that it would sell out so early.

It is probably too early for this, but where would be the best place to post this on the site?

fyi ... a couple of options for those who have missed registration ...

As an official charity of Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend, the YMCA-YWCA of the National Capital Region has a limited number of charity race bibs available for sold out events.

Bibs can be purchased now by using access code 31211 on the official race website (direct link below)...
https://secure2.htgsports.com/marathon. ... OC&lang=en

- Purchase your Half Marathon bib for $170 and receive a charitable tax receipt for $85.
- Purchase your 10K bib for $100 and receive a charitable tax receipt for $45.

All proceeds from charity bib purchases support the Y Strong Kids Campaign.

and

Did you know Citizen Advocacy has spots for the SOLD OUT 10k and 1/2 marathon? All you have to do is send us a $25.00 donation and a spot is all yours!

...

Citizen Advocacy of Ottawa I still have a few spots left! events@citizenadvocacy.org if you would like one or two!

Ah, so this explains how some races sell out so quickly! It's not high demand or a rush on registration, but the fact that official charities get a certain number of entries allocated to them to sell at a higher price (leaving fewer entries for open registration).

I don't really have an issue with it, but it would be nice if this was stated up front so that people could choose to purchase a charity spot if they want, and everyone would know how many entries are available through all methods of registration.

Funny, and great news. I was disappointed nobody was stepping up to be a title sponsor. Good on Scotiabank, I'm happy to see them step=up and support a great event for the city...that said being a Bluenoser its still the Bank of Nova Scotia to me...Scotiabank sounds so foreign.

Any interesting perks/changes expected by Scotiabank being the title sponsor?

For just an extra $10 per race, you get to use 5 water stations free of charge, and for every water station beyond the 5th, an extra minute will be added to your time.

Unless you maintain an average minimum pace of 6:00/km, in which case the use of all aid stations is free.
