Santa Shuffle Saturday
Santa Shuffle Saturday
I'm relaxed enough to have slept until the alarm rang this morning, even though I'm racing. Breakfast, warm-up, then I'm off to see Santa and run a 5k. Have a good day, all you Maniacs!

Just having breakfast and waiting for it to get a bit brighter out before I head out for 30K. It's a bit chilly and there's a bit of wind, but I think it will be fine once I get out there.

50min spin this morning. Looking forward to our local Santa Claus Parade this afternoon - my daughter will be riding her horse in the parade with her riding club. Very exciting!

Have fun shufflers! I did 10 km with friends this morning - beautiful sunny day, but a bit chilly in the wind.

Santa Shuffling for Rob and me this morning too. He's coming by early so we can have coffee and run for a bit before the race. It's COLD out there- the coldest day all year. -9 now but clear so it should be sunny soon.
Have a great day everyone!

Have a good race, all you Shufflers.
I'm heading out in about an hour to see if anyone is actually going to brave the cold. At least three have begged off already and a couple more had other conflicts and weren't going to be able to make it so I'm not sure who's left.

I got up nice and early and did 14K down on the canal, from the Arboretum to the Ottawa Locks and back. It was a bit chilly when I started, but it turned out to be a really nice day out there, especially once the sun came fully out.
Re: Santa Shuffle Saturday
20k out in the brisk sunshine! A bit windy in spots, but a lovely running day overall.

First run in a couple of weeks for me. Nice day for it, crisp and sunny. Eight and a third kilometres along the waterfront. Not too many runners out there today.

14 miles outside today. Sunny but cold going into the wind!
Re: Santa Shuffle Saturday
-33 (-45WC) I walked to feed the cat I'm looking after. The sun is out so I might try a run outside this afternoon when it warms up a bit. Otherwise, it's the treadmill later.

I had a good race. Not a PB, but considering the wind (up to 45 kph), I ran well. I could tell I gave it my all, because I was practically puking at the end, and the medic came up to me to ask if I was OK!

Easy 14K in the cold (-35 WC -37). I might have gone longer but I was overdressed and starting to marinate within my layers.

Tough slog in the last 7K into the wind. But it's done. Next week is a recovery week. I've earned it.

90 mins on the bike trainer this morning. Wanted to run but the -42 wc is too much for me.

I run because it's my passion, and not just a sport. Every time I walk out the door, I know why I'm going where I'm going and I'm already focused on that special place where I find my peace and solitude. Running, to me, is more than just a physical exercise...it's a consistent reward for victory!

5 mile trail run with one of my favourite trail buddies (who's been away for a month so I'm glad she's back!).

Re: Santa Shuffle Saturday
Had a morning of runs- it was a cold one but we went down early enough to do a 5k warmup run first and then the "shuffle" in about 26 minutes. We stuck around for the draw prizes, but didn't win anything- even with our lucky numbers.

Re: Santa Shuffle Saturday
Had a holiday run for one of my groups. Saw them setting up for a shuffle in the park. Everyone was friendly out today.
While it was mostly a chill run, and we regrouped every once in a while, there was a breakaway group out in front. We had one big hill that I felt like attacking while the venerable ultra guys/gals felt like walking okay I'm a prick so after getting in my one little jump, I decided I'd chase down the lead group. I'm surprised I could do it considering they had a substantial gain on me half a k? and its not like I'm in shape yet. But with a 4:25 avg pace solo, uphill, and into a bitter wind, I caught up.

We also went there early enough to get the best parking spot.

So it ended up being six of us and we managed 12km on a chilly morning. It was actually pretty nice except for a bit of a chill breeze. I'm glad to see I still have some cold(ish) weather endurance. Had to head out for a luncheon right after getting home so I didn't get a chance to really defrost after the run so I was a bit chilled all afternoon.

8k with the dog in -27 (-41wc). He had zero trouble with the cold. I was fine, too.

I ran 8km on the treadmill at the YMCA in Medicine Hat.

Why are you back here?
Just a measly 3.5k on the treadmill. Didn't attempt to go outside today. The windchill was a bit much.
