Yep, I hear ya on the saving. As much as I'd like to run Dopey again, we may opt out and just do Goofy. Not sure yet. It's nice to have the full collection for the weekend, but outside of that, I wasn't thrilled with the congestion on the course for the 5k and 10k. We also want to go back to DL for the 10 year anniversary later in the year.

Was in the A corral for the 5K / 10K and did not notice much of a congestion, myself ... :shifty:

Though, fyi ... DL this year sold out within the first 30 minutes and, if it is the 10th Annviversary, it may go even quicker ... I was there for the 5th Anniversary for Disneyland ...

If your goal is also for C2C - the Avengers Race Weekend in November may be a bit better timing, perhaps ?? Thought about doing it this year, in it's inaugural year, but, can't justify spending all that $$ for a weekend in Disneyland, with Dopey just a couple of months away ... though, still have another 2+ weeks to ponder about it ... :shifty:

eta: Used my WJ credit and Aeroplan points for direct flights, hence booking way, way early, but wanted guaranteed direct flights to avoid the possibilty of winter travel with connections, as what was experienced this year ... amazing how much cheaper flights are booking so far in advanced ... :shifty:

We were pretty much 'middle of the pack' in terms of corralling. The half was dicey, but the marathon moved pretty well for us. I suspect DL will sell out as fast as the last two years. We last ran it for the 5th as well (2010). That's why we want to go back. I'm going to save the Avengers race for another year. I hope WDW introduces a Star Wars theme (rumours are every where) in the next couple of years. My guess, it likely would be in May to align with the Star Wars weekends. (if they did it). As well, I'm also a legacy runner on Tink, so I'd like to finish up the next two years if I can.

Like you, if I can get in on the inaugural races, it is kind of cool to keep that streak going... currently, I have it with the Army Run Half and 9-1-1 Half ... and, for some weird reason, the sound of Perfectly Dopey has a nice ring to it... :shifty:

fyi ... new race kit pick-up policy, in effect starting with new Avengers race weekend ....

PACKET PICK-UP POLICY

Due to travel concerns, the original Packet Pick-Up Policy will be in effect for the Expedition Everest Challenge, Disneyland® Half Marathon Weekend, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ 10 Miler and the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend.

Starting with the Avengers Super Heroes Half Marathon Weekend at Disneyland ® Resort in November, runners will no longer be allowed to have individuals pick up these items on their behalf. Adults, however, will be allowed to pick up participant packets for runners under age 18.

Couldn't resist ... registered for the Dopey Challenge this evening with the preferred Runners World Dopey Challenge ... perhaps, a wee bit more for the race registration and the other option race weekend activities, but also included all the benefits offered by the Runners World Challenge ... as well, it takes away the added stress of having to wait until April 22nd for race registration to open ... :shifty:

apparently this engineer shouldn't do math without a calculator when she's tired.

$240 - $340 - same thing! ;)

So, for an extra $20, I get an extra shirt and medal - THAT's doable.

It is also the 10th Anniversary for the Goofy Challenge this year, so, may be some extra perks in the Race Kit ... :shifty:

huh - if you register before June 24th - it's an extra $20 to do Goofy.

in the middle time period, it's an extra $10 to do Goofy.

After August, there's no extra cost to do Goofy!

weird.

I won't decide for awhile yet.

If it is like any of the recent RunDisney races and challenges, it may very well sellout within the first week ...

If that happens, I guess I won't be going this year. I'm not in a position to make that decision yet.

Just a reminder that Race Registration opens up today at noon ... expected to sell out early this year ... apparently, a lot of AP and DVC Members have taken advantage of the early bird registration perks, over the past 6 days or so ...

First order of business .. book your flights now ... to avoid a weather event similar to this past year that could cause delays, cancellations, etc., flying down to Orlando direct from Ottawa would be my recommendation. unfortunately, options are limited but, but could save you a lot of grief, in the long run, imo ... .. AC has only one direct flight option that leaves on Monday to Orlando in the afternoon ... while, WJ has daily (err, afternoons), if I recall .... :shifty:

wow. the 5 and 10 are also sold out.

that's craziness. I feel like Dopey has taken away the 5 and 10 opportunities for the less distance-inclined.
