I can't start the Wednesday Thread!

Postby BaldGuy » Wed Mar 19, 2014 6:30 am

Can I?

Last day of Couch-to-5K week one. It helps to have a plan ... all I have to do is show up and follow it. For now.

Warmup 5 min
Run 60, Walk 90 (20 min)
Cooldown 5 min

Next: on to Week 2!

Of course you can! :D

Had a great spin class last night. Tonight is runpub, but the conditions are likely going to be crappy. At least it won't be dark and crappy.

7.5 peppy K with the clinic last night! For me, it was probably ATB RP. Felt good!

Tonight will be hills - likely in the rain

Early morning 14K as per usual. Some formerly icy spots are now clear and some formerly clear spots are becoming icy. In the dark, these are significant distinctions.

I am running at lunch today - probably between 10 and 11km :)

I run because it's my passion, and not just a sport. Every time I walk out the door, I know why I'm going where I'm going and I'm already focused on that special place where I find my peace and solitude. Running, to me, is more than just a physical exercise...it's a consistent reward for victory!

Well, I had great plans to run after work yesterday that got derailed by working late. Fortunately for my exercise routine, DH arrived home from Ottawa last night and that makes it easier to get to the gym in the morning, etc. Anyway, because I worked late, and he got home late, we had a late dinner and my stomach didn't want to run this morning. So I did an hour on the elliptical instead. I'm planning and hoping to run "something" after work tonight, be it at the gym on the TM or from home. That could of course be derailed by work. The pub part of Runpub is a possibility but it is more likely that we'll stay home and continue the next step of the new cat integration. Our male cat seems fine so far with the newcomer, at least as long as the newcomer is in his safe room. Next we see if that's still true when the new kitty is allowed into the rest of the house. Our female is NOT so fine, but she's much less aggressive than we expected so that's somewhat positive. She'll be in a bedroom the first time new kitty is allowed out of his room to explore.

And with that, back to work. Have a great day everyone. :)

That's insane Susan! You're ready for a huge PB!

Legs were heavy after a hard tae-boxe class last night but I ran 30 mins with Popeye. He enjoyed it more than me :D

It better be a PB, I've never done a 50k before.

I couldn't get started on running so I hauled the bike out of the back of the Duarango and cycled a brisk 20 km.

First ride of the season. In before the snow tonight.

Home just before 8. A bit stressful at work right now. So I needed those intervals on the treadmill! Very good for running off the stress.
Marathons: 1; 30k: 2; Half marathons: 6; Shorter: Um, I've lost track
PBs: Half-marathon: 1:35:32; 5K: 19:54 (both 2012)

Holy cow - love how you say 42.2 so casually :). Great run, Habs. That's impressive. I don't think I could run 42.2 without a clock and a finish line!!! It would be hard to summon the strength for those final miles (it's hard enough w/ the clock)...but not for you, as you proved today :). You'll be awesome for the 50!!! Recover well - that's a lot of running!
We train more joyfully and productively when we focus on the now, rather than on our future race day performance. It's a long road from here to there with many miles to go. We need to run each one. Accept where you are today and simply be thankful for the work you've accomplished. KA

Supposed to be a rest day after 14 straight, but I couldn't pass up the desert trails. 14k in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve again...started up Trial 8a to 8, and hooked up with 100 out to Scottsdale then back again. Amazing run, lots of climbing and very technical in areas, still no Rattle Snakes, heard a rattle off the side of the trail..sadly I didn't see it, so it could have been anything. I now officially have a burn on the back of my neck...but heck it's 30c and sunny again, a little burn is no reason to complain. My legs feel strong, it's the dry air burning out my lungs, in 14k I'd drink nothing at home, heck up to a 1/2 marathon I normally take no water, here 1L down in 14k and I was parched at the end. If your not ready for it the desert can confuse you, there's no sweat, it evaporates too quick so your never wet, but I'm coated in salt, and my cap is white by the time I'm done. I could get used to this...Do I have to go home Friday???

5 miles done.

Even after two rest days it was a bit rough, but finished alright. The cold, strong wind did not help.
