A Downtown Ottawa Canada Day Run

The morning Canada Day Run has become a bit of a tradition for me ever since the days of HBC sponsorship. Loved standing on the Alexandria Bridge looking at the Peace Tower before the start of the race singing O Canada. They moved the start out of Jacques Cartier Park (thanks NCC) to the War Museum but it is still great being able to finish the race and then wander around Parliament Hill before the crowds and chaos of Canada Day in Ottawa arrives. It is now called the Commonwealth Run and has a good cause attached. Nice to have two choices in Ottawa for a Canada Day Run: the Kanata Run and this one. Too bad they weren't set up so you could do a double!! Here is the info:

Time: 5K - 8 am / 10K - 8:15 am / 1K Kids - 10 am

Commonwealth Games Canada and MYCommonwealth invite you, your family or your Team, to kick off Canada Day with a 10K or 5K run/walk, and a 1K for kids. Proceeds go towards sport and education activities promoting Commonwealth values to youth in Canada and abroad!

thanks for posting this! I didn't realize they'd moved over to the War Museum this year. Anyone entering a team? Great savings if you have 5-10 runners!

Turns out you can beat that price - the price of not rushing out the door on Canada Day and just heading down to our local beach wins.

Congratulations to Pat for winning the 10k at the Canada Day Run (Ottawa downtown version). Small field. Hot day. Glorious Victory. And Free shoes for the win!! I received the Canadian medal on Canada Day: 4th.
