Sunny Sunday

Postby Robinandamelia » Sun Jun 22, 2014 8:33 am

I ran 6 miles outside. 2 miles each way to Scanlon Creek then some trail running. First time I've run trails by myself and without it being a race!

I planned on doing 14k and picked a route that I recalled being that distance. Oops. It was 18k :). Felt awesome nevertheless!

7K 'long' run, 10:1s. I had originally planned to run my 3K loop twice; beginner's fear of straying too far from home; desire to stay on flat ground and not deal with hill climbing so early in my bazillionth comeback. But something George Sheehan said about play v. work, running (or any sport) being enjoyable rather than a chore or a routine, made me change my mind. I ran down the hill to the Beach, ran the trail for a bit, and ran back up (the big frickin' hill). I had really worried that today would be a bad run day, because yesterday felt so good. Glad I was wrong.

No run for me today. I had a very long busy day yesterday which started with a beautiful 13k run. Today I'm playing spectator at the Scotiabank Half and the Rio Tinto Alcan Dragon Boat races. :)

Have a good one everybody.

sucky 6 miles today. It was supposed to be 5 and I got lost (more than once) and ended up walking a lot and stopping to look at my map. :/

now I know where NOT to go on that route but haven't quite figured out where TO go...

Thanks, Cheryl.

It turned out better than I thought it would. I'm happy with the strong finish with a small negative split. Like my marathon in May, I finished with a chip time ending with 39 seconds. One day I hope to get that elusive sub 1:35.

Topped it off with drinks and food on the patio with Jen and some dragon boating. Awesome day!

Great racing, Rob! Finishing w/ a strong kick & a negative split is an awesome feeling :).

We FINALLY had a summer-like day w/ calm winds & sunny skies. I celebrated day 2 of summer w/ 2 runs (b/c I overslept & missed out on some of my running slot): one in my wee city & one @ my cottage-by-the-sea. Both were happy & fun :).

School is almost a wrap & then we're cottage bound for the next 2 months. I'm aching for the change. I live for my summer at the shore!
We train more joyfully and productively when we focus on the now, rather than on our future race day performance. It's a long road from here to there with many miles to go. We need to run each one. Accept where you are today and simply be thankful for the work you've accomplished. KA
