SL10K comes to Ottawa

Postby purdy65 » Fri Nov 28, 2014 1:17 pm

So Ottawa peeps. How will this go over 3 weeks before TORW (where the 10K is a Gold Label race)?

Certainly cheaper!

interesting! would make a good prep for the Ottawa Half though. I wonder what kind of crowds they will get. I think part of the appeal of SL Toronto is the big crowd and the fast downhill course, no? So many Ottawa races are along the canal, so that makes this one less special.

And one of the tough things about the 10K at ORW is that it's on a Saturday evening, so it's often quite warm. With all the twists/turns and bottlenecks, it's not a very fast course for us mid-packers.

Though I agree that it would be a good warm-up for the half three weeks later.

Very cool. I love the business model - very appealing package for runners with the gift card thing, a charity gets a bucket of money, and Sporting Life gets the marketing and customers. Win-win-win.

I'm tempted to run it just because it could be about 10-15 degrees cooler than ORW, LOL.

Very cool, and come on NMG you'll learn to love the heat someday, although I still despise the cold.
