Boston Marathon - KenB vs LisaP - It's on!
Re: Boston Marathon - KenB vs LisaP - It's on!
Unless I'm reading it wrong, she's ahead of him by about 2 minutes at 40K? Is my brain not working properly today?
eta: La beat me to it-- I wasn't reading it wrong. So she made up 3.5 minutes over 5K.

By my calculations (so take that for what it's worth ), Lisa crossed the start line at 11:14:19AM and Ken crossed at 11:15:44AM, so 1min and 25 seconds behind. He passed her before they even got to the 5K mat, pulled ahead by 3:30 by 30K, but then she reeled him back in!

Purdy impressive for both of them. The early surge by Ken did not pay off. Will be interesting to hear the race tactics.

I wonder where between 35-40K she made the pass!

how did you calculate this? is it [(real time finish time) - (gun time)]?

I used the time they crossed the 5K timing mat, then subtracted their 5K time from that.
Lisa:
5K in 29:11, crossed at 11:45:30AM
Ken:
5K in 28:13, crossed at 11:43:57AM

I'm sorry I had to miss the "real time" updates. IT was just as exciting to read after too.
Congratulations to the two of you and AndyM.

I'm not sure it does. When I did it my way, they started at the same time!

Then maybe it's Real Time Finish Time - Chip/Net Time?

Re: Boston Marathon - KenB vs LisaP - It's on!
I'm confused too. Based on the finish time clock, Lisa got to the line first by 3:33, and this is also the difference in "gun time" (which makes sense, given that they were in the same wave). On the other hand, Lisa's "net time" is 4:09 faster, which suggests that Ken got to the starting line 36 seconds sooner than Lisa. That must have been a mosh pit shuffling towards the mat.

Lisa:

Ken:
5K in 28:13, crossed at 11:43:57AM
Using these times Ken started at 11:15:44 and Lisa started at 11:16:19. I think. So Ken started 35 second ahead.

Interesting! I started in my corral, but I got there just in time because I had to make a bathroom stop!
