Super early start, Thursday

Postby Habs4ever » Thu May 07, 2015 6:02 am

May as well start the Thursday thread. It's 5:00am here and I've been awake for over 1.5 hours. I think it may be a long day.

I have been up since 2:30. I saw an amazing sunrise as I drove to work. My shoulder is still sore from swimming on Tuesday so today is going to be 2 hrs on the bike, after groceries and house stuff.

Morning!

Super nice morning here. I attempted my first tempo run in ages! I wasn't sure I could or even should, but it turned out decently.

1.6 K warmup
5K @ tempo pace = 5:08, 5:09,5:04,5:03,4:56 - so somewhere between 10K to half marathon pace. I was happy to be done!
1K jog
Stop at the park for some strength work! :D lunges, squats, box jumps, bench pushups, tricep dips, jumping jacks, step ups - so great stuff!
2.4K cool down for 10K total.

This felt awesome! Gotta keep up the strength work.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight...it's the size of the fight in the dog! 11K Marker post - 2010 ATB.

I got out for a 9.6k run at lunch to enjoy the sunny day! It means I have to work a bit late to make up for the long lunch, but it's worth it.

I'm working from home today (no night training - yay!) so I went out for a run just before lunch. I realized it's been TWO WEEKS since I last ran!

I had a bit of a false start on my run because when I was about 800m from home I started to feel tightness in my chest from allergy-induced asthma. Rather than continuing and then having to walk home due to not being able to breathe, I turned around, ran home, used my puffer, put it in my pocket, and headed back out. The second part of my run was AMAZING! It's such a gorgeous day out. I didn't really have a plan for the run, so I just kept going a little further until I decided it was time to turn around. In the end, I ran 7.1K in just under 44 minutes.

From a shirt seen (many times! on many charity runners!) during the London Marathon: "Asthma - with you every step of the way".

Glad you ended up having a good run after using the puffer.

Gave blood last night so I kept it easy today.

Just short of 5k jog/walk in 40 minutes. We were doing track, which was great as I wouldn't have been able to keep up with the gals otherwise.

I went to runpub but didn't run with the others because I wasn't feeling great. Walked Sammy for 5km instead and then joined for the pub part. :)

Needed to take a day off running, but didn't want to waste a beautiful night. Went out for a 5k walk.

Have been traveling for the last month - got a run in (on the treadmill) in Jamaica, ran in Calgary last week and Montreal this week. I was supposed to do the Sportinglife 10k here in Ottawa this weekend, but need some time at home to relax after being away so much.
