Not-yet-spring-Sunday

Postby scrumhalfgirl » Sun Apr 10, 2016 11:34 am

Another beautiful Sunday morning for a winter run...too bad it is the second week of April! I actually saw a fellow runner out there with a balaclava on!

31 km for my last big run - taper now begins - three weeks to race day. My Boston-bound-buddy joined me for the middle 18km. So pumped for her, and hoping I'll make it there myself next year!

9K for me this morning. I ventured into the greenbelt for a bit and about half of it was still snow covered, the other half had exposed sections of dirt that was pretty easy to follow. Happy that the wind from the last couple of days had died down or it would've been very chilly!

Spring here for sure. Today was a bit cloudier and cooler than yesterday but still so nice out there.
21k done for me!

Managed a 45 minute walk with the clinic, I'm still hacking up a lung but I think I'm on the mend.

I thought I was done with the winter gear! And a week ago I was in Oregon and it was beautiful and sunny and low 20s (Celsius). Grr. Oh well, got 7.4 km in, and aside from my teeth being achy from the cold I'm feeling great.

Declined an offer to get up before sunrise to run faster than I'd like and instead got out for a slow trail run in the afternoon. Early on, I turned a corner and found myself 20 feet away from a deer. I stopped to let it decide which direction it wanted to go and it ended up walking right towards me and then stopped at an arm's length away. I resisted the temptation to try to touch it but I'm fairly sure that it would have let me. The second half of the run was less fun, as I had some sort of allergy flare-up that swelled up my lower lip (this happens about once or twice a year). Ended up with 15K.
