Bear Aware Thursday

Postby chunkymonkeymelonhed » Thu May 25, 2017 11:00 am

It was my first bear sighting of the year this morning! MIchelle and I were just heading around the field behind our local rec centre to get onto the trail when I spotted something big, black, and furry ambling along the train tracks that run parallel to the trail. "Bear!" and we held up and watched him continue along the tracks and then turn onto the trail that we were heading for. We ended up changing our planned route and had no further bear encounters.

11K done.

I've been doing Tabata on the rower lately and saw some good progress in only a few days, so today I bit the bullet and ran a tabata on the treadmill.

The hard part about the treadmill, as opposed to outside, or the rower for that matter is that the implement decided the pace, not my effort.

So i set the incline to 10% and the speed to what seemed like a conservative 11.1kph ~5:24/km

20 second on, 10 seconds off for 8 rounds.

The longest 4 minutes ever.

Almost gave up until i realized I had only 2 sets left.

We'll see how it feels next time

No bears here. Way too windy out there for my first run back after the ugly food poisoning. Stayed in on the treadmill at the Y. 10.8k done. Felt quite alright.

Only animal I saw today was my cat! One hour of strength and core done.
