Spirit, i thought of you while reading this article.
I'm always curious as to what motivates people to take on extreme events. I never thought of myself as an extreme athlete, but I guess 3x 16-hour Ironman races somewhat qualifies. That's the weird thing about those of us who pursue fitness goals: none of us feels as though what we are doing is particularly special since there's always someone who can run farther or faster (or under more extreme circumstances) than we can. But we forget that the vast majority of people will never do a race/run of any distance, let alone 5K, 10K, 1/2M, marathon, Ironman, or ultra.
Why would someone walk 100 miles in the snow?

I'm not sure why I do what I do, but I get something out of it. But I fail alot too. And second guess my quitting decisions.
Here is a video on why someone would run 100 miles. I don't think it really answers the question either.

In this pod cast Jamil Courey talks about the why. It is long but a good listen while on the tm.
