Custom Shirts and Gear

Postby dgrant » Thu Jul 28, 2005 1:18 pm

Once again, I know I'm getting very over-eager. Here is a link to a company that sells customizable coolmax gear. You can pick and choose your own colour combinations, and there seem to be dozens of different shirt styles. I haven't investigated thoroughly, but it's something to simmer on the backburner. I assume we would have to place a single order, that distribute amongst ourselves separately.

Run Clubs are exciting!!

PS - there seems to be about a dozen colour options, but no orange.

I like orange as an accent colour rather than as the main colour. I have the 2003 Ottawa marathon shirt and it' s a bit intense, and I never wear it. I like the idea of something like this year's Ottawa shirt, which is good for men and women, in white with orange down the sides. They used Brooks to make their shirts... hmm- wonder if just anyone can get shirts similar to those.

Here's another similar site. They seem to have more options for both styles and colours. I didn't check prices yet.

Okay, the stuff on here seems much more customizable, but also more expensive. Also, there are no singlets, just sleeveless T's. Can't see any visors.

Between this and the other thread that talks about it, I'm not sure where to post this!

There was a shop that put together some custom coolmax shirts for our running group and it was pretty reasonable (between $26 and $32 for a singlet/t-shirt).
http://www.elitesportswear.com
. I'm not sure about what volume we ordered.

Keep in mind - in Alberta there is no PST, so we take that into account, because it might make up for some of the shipping costs....

local is good for me too. Although I'm hoping dgrant or someone else will take charge of it so I don't have to do it (when the time comes...). Whoever is in charge may want something local to them for simplicity's sake.

Just had a boo at the elitesportswear website. I like the fact they carry Russell Athletic stuff. I always liked that brand. The website itself's not that hot, so we'd have to do our own digging. Also, in order to save the PST it would have to be delivered within Alberta.

To divide the labour, one person could handle the ordering, and the other the shipping/reshipping.

I don't know anything about this stuff. Can we get an order that consists of different shirt styles all in the same shipment and still take advantage of the reduced prices? In other words, instead of ordering 100 (ok, call me optimistic) identical shirts of various sizes, can we order 50 t-shirts, 50 tank tops, mens shirts, womens shirts, visors (for the Bman), hats etc??

I assumed by order quantity that it meant units of a given specific product. I also assumed that if we ordered, say, 100 t-shirts that they could still be size and colour customized according to what each member wanted. (ie. blue on white, or whatever). More stuff I'll have to look into...

The cyclocross team that I was with last season came up with our own jerseys. We were able to get a certain range of sizes as not everyone fits ___ & 2 styles. I do not prefer skin tight clothing that cyclists use, a bit self-concious, I suppose. We sublimated 2 colours, black & blue, over white & it came out pretty nice. Mind you, we paid a pretty penny for these things & I use it on special occasions only. Something to think about as it is a very beautiful jersey. Our team manager, Matt, did all the work & deserves all the credit!

I use the jersey as is or over a hooded sweatshirt!

I'm just bumping this thread for the viewing pleasure of any of the newer members. Any input? Anybody have any graphic talent to help design a logo? (I think any logo should be very simple so its is easily reproduced, and monochromatic so it can be used on any colour background.)

From my own experience, I'de say that when we are ready to print up shirts we'll get much better prices from speaking to local guys. Pricing should be reasonable after a little negotiating. Let the board settle in a couple of weeks, we'll get some ideas about #'s, and then we can make some calls. Do we have any graphic artists in our midst?

For comparison purposes, the guys at the Toronto Marathon were selling their running hats (similar to the RR aniversary hats), for $10 with embroidered printing.
