Durham 1/4 Marathon?

Postby tritorun » Sat Jun 24, 2006 3:29 pm

Was out in Oshawa today and saw lots signs for a "Druham 1/4 Marathon" has anyone ever heard of this distance? I checked out the web site http://www.durhamquartermarathon.com/ and it looks like it would be a good course. The Oshawa creek trails are all paved and in the shade so it sound good and it should be down hill all the way to the lake.

I think that I will be running it. Anyone else?

I was handed an ad for this at a recent race. It is a bit of a weird distance. The website says it's the first of its kind so it's not like a regular distance. I'm not sure why they don't just call it a 10k.

Because then it's just another 10K. Add a few hundred yards, call it a 1/4 marathon ... bingo ... you've got an entirely new event.

Marketing. Don't ya just luv it?

Thanks for the link. I'd totally be into it. Good time of year... a cause I would support. I'm going to scribble this on my calendar.

It would be just like old times for me... I used to run the Oshawa trail all the time when I lived there! Parts of it are fairly narrow, so it would have to be a small race.
