Yes, I know I've run by it, but I don't know where it is...
Besides "Runfree" makes me think of running naked or something.

Dave's down at the beach right now with the paper. He should be at least an hour. Holly, just stamp it out in stone and he'll go with whatever.

It was Jacob's post about his new orange Pumas that started the whole controversy over at the other forum.

I don't want to build this place on a negative foundation. on the other hand, though, I think it would be funky to do orange because it's a bright and unusual colour... people would see us coming for miles in orange shirts...lol

I agree. I know a lot of really insightful posters on the other board happened to not agree with Jacob on the 'big issue'. It would be too bad if they checked out this site, thought it was just an anti-RR protest site, and decided it wasn't for them. I know Jacob thinks so too. The other board has great elements, and this one will too.

Orange is still a cool colour though.

I think the great thing about this board, from what I've seen so far, is that it's obviously NOT about bashing the other board. It certainly doesn't appear to have been built on a negative foundation. I think it's great that you've made a move to keep your community together in such a positive way.

I missed the controversy on the 'other' board, but saw the aftermath threads, and I emailed Jacob when I saw a post of his on yet another board -- which is how I found my way here.

Long story short: there are lots of running boards out there, and this is a new one with a small and close-knit community already in place. Good on ya.

p.s. after the Nike RunTO experience and this year's RR 20 minute challenge, I've got quite a bit of orange in my running wardrobe.

dgrant...in all seriousness, good comment!!!!!
We have fun with the banter of the whole "topic", however, if posters on the RR came across this forum, I would want it to be seen as an insightfull, propaganda-less, PUBLIC forum where it is built on POSITIVE things, not seen as one populated by (some) disgruntled  , bitter  ..........well, you know what I mean.

Thanks for raining it back in.

Orange would be a nice touch for two reasons.....
1) A VERY SMALL inside joke, that would be a tad...ok alot funny!
2) I just got a  visor  and some post-run  sandals  that are both BRIGHT orange.

Well as I hope everyone knows, is that I mentioned that I didn't want this issue to come over here. I've said what I've had to say about the shoes, but not as a slam to anyone, rather what it was meant to do, and that was tell everyone that is in the market for new shoes, to maybe give em a shot. What we have here is a great place to talk about our passion, without the boarders we had before, thus only making it that much better, in that we can discuss stores, and different brands...

Orange is a great colour, I agree, and if that's the colours we want as a group or rather soon to be club, then lets do it.

Cheers TO US!!
Jacob

i really was kidding about the orange bracelets thing. ever since the livestrong ones came out every organization in the world has to have a ripoff. it's getting rather overboard...

How about "runningnation"?
I like the idea that we are from all over the country. It wouldn't have to exclude anyone from outside Canada, I don't think.

Why not just call it "Runtime"?

Okay. Decision's made. I'm behind RunningMania.

Since it's kind of an irreverent name, we'll need kind of an irreverent logo. Definitely no straightjacket stuff.

I proclaim July 28, 2005 to be RunningMania day in my computer room!
